TNA, IPW:UK and RQW now added to KOE Cup Print E-mail
Friday, 24 November 2006
Organisers of the first ever King of Europe Cup tournament today announced three more companies who will be sending representatives to this massive two day event. Americas second largest wrestling promotion TNA this week agreed a deal to send a company representative to this history making event. Although no official word has been given has to who this may be we have been told that it WILL be one of the companies more high profile names. With TNA currently having one of the single most impressive rosters in the wrestling business right now this can only be a huge positive for UK fans attending this ground breaking show. This is major news for all involved in the event and the anticipation is building rapidly with each passing week. The new addition of TNA has only helped to increase that excitement even more. IPW:UK now added to KOE Cup plus big news regarding Taste of IPW:UK shows The UKs fastest growing promotion, IPW:UK, has now added its name to the KOE Cup. Company director Daniel Edler this week agreed that IPW:UK would hold a mini tournament to decide which IPW:UK star would represent his promotion in the massive 16 company tournament. IPW:UK will be running two pre show events on both April 28th and 29th before the King of Europe Cup main shows. It has been confirmed today that at least one big TNA star will now be making his IPW:UK debut on the Saturday April 28ths pre show event. Organisers are in talks with several other big US names in order to have more than one overseas IPW:UK debut that WILL NOT be part of the KOE Cup tournament. This means that on top of the talent already flying in from all over the world for this huge weekend there will not be even more top imported stars added for this two day wrestling extravaganza. If you have not had a chance to catch a taste of IPW:UK yet then make sure you do on April 28th and 29th at a special trail rate (more details below) go to the companies official website at WWW.IPWUK.COM KOE CUP weekend will be Real Quality with RQW now on board A huge deal was struck this week to make RQW (Real Quality Wrestling) the official sponsor of the first ever King of Europe Cup tournament. RQW shocked UK wrestling fans recently by debuting their state of the art production values at their first monthly York Hall event in London on November 11th. RQW Chairman Len Davies is currently the talk of the UK wrestling scene due to his financial and production abilities to help UK wrestling get a much needed leg up back onto mainstream UK TV. The money, equipment and knowledge that Len Davies brings to the event will now mean that the KOE Cup 2007 will now feature the best production ever seen on a UK independent event of this scale both live and once the DVD is releases. To further the relationship between RQW and the KOE Cup, officials have now agreed to enter a representative from RQW into the tournament on April 28th and 29th themselves. To increase the public interest, the RQW representative will be the winner of the huge one night RQW Heavyweight title tournament live from Londons York Hall on Saturday December 16th. This mega event, expected to be witnessed by around 1,200 fans, will be a free show working in association with the Crisis homeless charity and has gained interest from local and national mainstream press world wide. Due to the exciting new partnership the winner of that nights event will now not only be the brand new RQW Heavyweight Champion but also the first official UK entry into the biggest world wide tournament in British wrestling history. For more details check out the official RQW website which goes live on December 1st at WWW.REALQUALITYWRESTLING.COM First overseas names and new international promotion announced next week The very first two wrestlers from overseas to be entered into the King of Europe Cup 2007 will be announced next week. These are rumoured to be two extremely prominent US wrestling stars and will both bring something completely different to the highly anticipated tournament. We can reveal that both of these wrestlers represent two of the most prominent promotions in North America. There will also be the announcement of yet another brand new featured overseas promotion sending a company representative to this event. This addition has been kept completely under wraps and has only been confirmed in the last 7 days but both sides are extremely happy about it. There are currently plans for a qualifying match to take place in one of the worlds most famous wrestling venues being ironed out at present with regards to this promotions addition to the event. The tournament will then continue with a three day event between May 4th and May 6th at the Musikpalette in Essen, Germany. Arguably British wrestlings top two contributors over the last 10 years Alex Shane and Doug Williams have spent 18 months negotiating to bring this two day spectacular to the UK and between them have used their contacts and experience to guarantee European fans an event like no other. Organisers are in talks with companies in Italy and France about the concept of having tournaments of their own during the week in between the huge UK and German events. Offers have been coming in from all over the world by wrestlers and promoters, who want to be included in this massive event. The winner of the tournament will be awarded the first ever KOE cup after going through 4 rounds of matches with the best talent independent wrestling ahs to offer. Doug Williams is without question the greatest overseas ambassador for the British wrestling industry of the last 10 years. He made the following comments regarding his reasons for getting involved in the project. I really began to make a world wide name for myself after my appearance in the American King of the Indies tournament. After my performance there a world of opportunities opened to me from promoters in more than 20 countries. Ever since then I have often wondered why no one has ever taken the concept and used it in Europe. After speaking to Alex Shane, we both discussed how great it would be to take that tournament to the next level and really do something on a scale that has never been done. We used all our contacts made over a combined 25 years plus in the wrestling business and decided to see what we could pull off. The current Pro Wrestling NOAH European ambassador continued We have worked on this for over a year and are confident that this will become one of the biggest events on the worldwide wrestling calendar. 16 of the best promotions from around the entire world sending their very best talent to represent them is a massive deal. To have this tournament then go over to Germany for a 3 day follow up weekend is even bigger. We believe that within two years this will already be considered a must see annual event for fans from all countries and are fully expecting them to travel from all over the world to see it in April. Alex Shane holds the boost of organising the biggest independent wrestling shows in UK of the last decade. From making the FWA once the most talked about promotion in Europe to the unbelievable International Showdown to the recent and highly acclaimed Ring of Honour UK tour Shane has experience and success in this field like no other. The current ROH European Head of marketing and promotions said Everyone involved in this event from the organisers to the 16 companies on board believe that this event will put the UK on the map in a way that no other event has done before. We want to make the King of Europe Cup and annual event which has the worlds top promotions clambering to be involved. We are confident that this will be a massive boost to the UK industry. For the several UK wrestlers that are picked they will surely be seen by promoters worldwide. UK Promotions will be able to get their product seen on global stage by thousands of potential new fans and British fans that will witness some of the best wrestling that the current stars of today can possibly offer. I am in no way afraid to say that this will be the single most important event I have ever promoted. Qualifying matches to take place world wide Many of the companies sending talent will be holding mini tournaments and qualifying matches to select which of its wrestlers will be representing its promotion. This is a really huge deal and is one of the many unique aspects of this tournament that makes it stand apart from others of its kind. This will create interest in the tournament in fans of all the companies sending talent which can only help in exposing UK companies and wrestlers to fans world wide. Fans can be kept updated with these qualifying matches to see who will be appearing on April 26th and 29th via the official websites at: www.kingofeuropecup.com or www.KOEcup.com 1700 people are expected to pack the prestigious Liverpool venue each night to see what organisers are planning on making an annual event rivalling that of the famed ECWA Super 8 and King of the Indies events in the US. What can fans expect? Lets take a look at what fans will be seeing over the two days including running times and some of the brand new concepts and ideas that event organisers are debuting to guarantee this will be a weekend that no UK wrestling fan will want to miss. Day one on Saturday April 28th will feature the 8 first round matches with all winners going into the Quarter finals on day two. Day two on Sunday April 29th will feature the quarter final, semi final and Final plus more matches featuring the eliminated talent from the first round. Brand new concept debuted Prize fighting To guarantee that UK fans witness the best matches possible, event organisers are going to debut a completely new concept to make the interaction between fans and wrestlers stronger than ever before. For the first time ever fans will be given the opportunity to make donations for match of the night. The donations are voluntary and can range from 50 pence to whatever you feel is appropriate. Donation money will be collected throughout the night on both Saturday and Sundays shows. This money will then be added to a $1000 match of the night cash prize which will be donated by event organisers giving $500 a night for the best match on each day. Fans will be given score sheets at the start of the show and will be asked to put their top three matches from that night in order. The votes will be collected and the three matches with the most votes will be decided. The fan donated money will then be added to the $1000 prize fund giving grand cash reward. The participants who fans selected to have the best 3 matches each night will then receive the prize money as follows at the end of each night as follows: 55% for 1st prize 35% for second prize 10% for third prize This will greatly improve the earnings of the wrestlers who give fans the best matches and we feel will be a big step in guaranteeing British fans two amazing nights of professional wrestling featuring match quality that will rival any other wrestling tournament in the world. Just like tipping at a restaurant, fans will now be able to show financial appreciation for those wrestlers who go above and beyond the call of duty to give fans the best matches that their body can deliver. How to make MOTN donations Donations can be given on the night of each show or through the official website via Paypal on the donations page. People who donate in advance will be given a public thank you via the website. Donations over 20 either online or at the show will receive a free gift. The interactive aspect doesnt stop there At the end of night one fans will be asked upon leaving to select two matches using the eliminated 8 wrestlers from round one. Once again these suggestions will be collected and the matches with the most audience votes will be made for the following evening. The potential of some amazing one night only cross promotional dream matches have never been so put in the fans hands before. Why not try a taste of IPW:UK?
