Who do you want to win the World Cup now England is out?

Following the England defeat by Portugal on Saturday in the penalty shootout our national team is out of the World Cup tournament. We can easily argue how well they played, Sven decisions or the decisions made by the referee in favour of the Portuguese team but the fact remains we are out and football has not come home. Well I already decided straight after Saturday’s match I’m firmly behind the Germany side and whilst listening to Radio 2 this lunchtime it reaffirmed my decision, as they were discussing this subject. There were representatives from the four remaining nations who are in the semi finals.
Well let’s see what they said:

France:
Our nearest neighbour left in it
Lots of English live in France
French p_layer_s play in teams such as Arsenal

Portugal:
Found this chap a bit heard to comprehend but I think his main points were “we are better than the French and have a better history with our nation”.

Italy:
They play similar to us and they know how to throw a good party

Germany:
Play efficiently
Play fair
The host nation, which will make them happy that we’ll support them and return the favour by spending lots of money in England!


Well here’s my verdict!

France:
Nah that seems too much like supporting the Gooners! Tottenham Hotspur are the only North London team for me thanks!

Portugal:
No way they knocked us out in the quarterfinals and squashed dreams of an England win!

Italy:
If the after party isn’t in Trafalgar Square then I don’t want it Rome thanks.

Germany:
I would love it for the Germans to win as we can turn around and say we beat them 5-1 on September 1st 2001 – which is a fantastic day for me as I got married on that wonderful warm, sunny day we beat them.
Well as the fella said if we openly show our support for the host nation then they will be generous back to us plus don’t forget they are the nation that gave us that fantastic shop Lidl!!

I have voted for Germany to win. I am not an expert about football, actually I know very little about the game, here are my reasons for picking Germany.

Potugal; I do not like them because they knocked us out of the tournament, but I do like their Port (drink).

France; I like their Country and wine but I do not like French People nor their President they hate England and the English people.

Italy; I love their Country and their food but their football is a bit crazy, they foul their opponents quite a lot.

Germany; I like their Country, their food, their wine, their beer, the people in Germany are friendly and genuine, they also play the best football out of these four options.

Ah well they lost much like supporting England anyway!

Those goals in extra were pretty good by the Italians though I must admit.
