I have recently got this and just started watching the 2nd DVD.
It's pretty good it so far I just wonder how they choose what matches to include with such a huge library available to those at WWE HQ. The Rougeou Brothers vs the Bushwackers - it fits in but not the best to include, although this match perhaps was typical of them.
I would have liked a little more on the Harts and Davey Boy, I wonder if there are plans for more DVD releases featuring the legacy of Stu Harts Calgary?
I wonder who would be included if there was a British version inclusive now and yester year in wrestling?
How about the Crabtrees, Dixon, The Knights?
It is a shame that Macho Man and the Poffo's are left out it, makes a point in the review below that Vince iappears to be erasing Savage from WWF/E history. Personally I would love it if Randy Savage got the special collector's 3 disc treatment as would many others I'm sure. He was a big part of making wrestling so big along with Hogan. They have never made a classic wrestling figure of him either so it must a serious thing.
Here is a review I just found of the DVD set:
http://prowrestling.about.com/od/reviews/fr/familydvdrev.htmFamilies have played a big part in wrestling history. This DVD takes a look at some of the most powerful families in the history of the business. Disc one contains a 2-plus hour documentary which focuses on 15 families. Matches are included on both discs that for the most part feature the families in action.
The DocumentaryThe documentary does not have to be watched in order. It is 15 different stories with a few segments added on to give the disc some continuity that are hosted by Carlito. As is to be expected, some of the stories are more interesting than others. One of the bright spots of this disc is that there is analysis provided by people that was not expected. I never thought that I would see Christian Cage talking on a WWE DVD since he is in TNA. This DVD becomes very emotional at spots. Vince McMahon came close to crying when talking about his father and everyone watching this will have a lump in their throat as they see Eddie Guerrero talking about his family. The only problem I have with this portion of this disc is the continual attempt to erase the legacy of Randy Savage from WWE history.
The Families Profiled on this DVD:The Orton Family
The Guerrero Family
The McMahon Family
The Windham Family
The Graham Family
The Anoa'i Famiy
The Gagne Family
The Hart Family
The Vachon Family
The Colon Family
The Von Erich Family
The Rougeau Family
The Funk Family
The Brisco Family
The Maivia/Johnson Family
The MatchesThe overall theme of the match selection is to get as many family members in a match as possible. Keeping this theme does not create the greatest match selection possible. As an example, of all the possible Rock matches to pick, his worst PPV match is on this DVD.
The Matches on this DVD:
Peter Maivia & Jay Strongbow vs. Ali Baba & Baron Mikel Sciculana
Curt Hennig vs. Greg Gagne
The Rougeau Brothers vs. The Bushwhackers
Barry & Kendall Windham vs. Lex Luger & Michael Hayes

Undertaker vs. Randy Orton
Overall Recommendation
This DVD set is a mixed bag. While the documentary is interesting, the matches themselves leave a lot to be desired. I would recommend waiting for this to be on PPV as part of the Fanatic Series and ordering that.
