LDN and TWCfight! Present
LEGENDS SHOWDOWN UK
Saturday 24 th November 2007 – Broxbourne Civic Hall
The Brits Are Back!
Not since the days of Big Daddy & Giant Haystacks has British Wrestling been as popular as it is today.
4.00pm on a Saturday afternoon used to be a national institution, as the country would come to a standstill, put the kettle on, and turn on their TV sets to hear Kent Walton utter the immortal phrase, “Good afternoon, grapple fans!” on the much-loved World of Sport broadcasts.
In fact, British Wrestling was so popular in it's heyday that at one time it drew in more viewers than the FA Cup Final – even the Queen was a fan!
Sadly, British Wrestling gave way to the glitz and glamour of the Americans in the late 1980s, and seemed to vanish off the face of the Earth (at least on Television). But now it's back due to popular demand, and its here to stay!
LDN Wrestling have been putting on shows in and around London for the last three years, and have recently been making waves with their popular series “LDN Capital TV” (Sky ch.427).
Shunning the _style_-over-substance approach of the Americans, LDN are proud to host traditional British-_style_ matches – two pin falls, two submissions or a knockout to decide the winner.
And this return to rounds, corner-men, and even the dreaded ‘public warnings' has proved a hit, not just to fans who grew up watching the grappling every week on the World of Sport, but also to a whole new generation of families and children. LDN are proud to be putting British Wrestling back on the map.
Their famed live shows mix the best of today's young talent with the survivors of the World of Sport era. Alongside household names such as the original Kendo Nagasaki and Brian “Gold Belt” Maxine, LDN also showcase up-and-comers such as the Greek Grappling Sensation, Yorghos, and the loudmouth Essex boy ‘Philthy' Phil Powers.
On Saturday 24 th November at the prestigious Broxbourne Civic Hall, LDN along with TWCfight! present a night dedicated to the wrestling portion of World of Sport. Many legends will make special appearances and several big names will be wrestling on the card. Over the next few months LDN will be revealing matches and names to be featured at the event.
Get your tickets for this unmissable show now, by calling the Civic Hall on 01992 441 946. Tickets are priced £30 ringside, £20- front row stage and £10 general admission. Concessions are £9.50.
In the meantime, don't forget, you can keep up with all the latest LDN wrestling action each and every week by watching Capital TV on TWCfight! (Sky channel 427) every Saturday at midday!
