Don't know if anyone noticed watching slamaversary last week it was the TNA Heavyweight Championship here is why

Bob Trobich, head of legal for the NWA, and Steve Campbell, head of legal for Panda Energy as representative of TNA, have negotiated to terminate the working agreement between the NWA and TNA. NWA will take back possession of the NWA Hvt. _title_ and NWA Tag _title_s. Cage and the Dudleys were stripped of there _title_s last month.

Jeff Jarrett has been the third party representing TNA during the negotiations to cease the working relationship.

There have been a lot of rules that the NWA has that TNA has not been following. As TNA has grown, and as the NWA name has become less of a marketing asset, a split was considered a strong possibility. TNA long ago stopped using the _title_ "NWA-TNA" as its name.

TNA aligned with the NWA initially because TNA founder Jerry Jarrett, Jeff's father, believed that the "NWA" name carried credibility with the target audience for the weekly Wednesday night PPV format TNA began with. The heritage of the NWA World _title_ has been a marketing tool for TNA over its four-plus year history. TNA, though, did not want to abide by NWA rules such as having to notify the NWA board ahead of time when a _title_ change was planned, use the NWA name in all marketing, and pay the NWA a fee if TNA ran an event in another NWA member's territory. For those and a variety of other reasons, an agreement to split has been reached.

TNA's _title_s will lose the NWA label and become TNA _title_s. How TNA will handle the "lineage" aspect of the storyline shift is not known yet. This has happened before, such as when ECW and World Class Championship Wrestling split from the NWA in the mid-1990s and mid-1980s respectively.

So what do you all think, is this a good or bad thing?

It seems logical and makes sense that they (TNA) would do this to have more control.

NWA are the biggest losers here. Who else is going to represent them on an international stage.

Is Hammerlock wrestling in kent still part of the NWA? You don't hear much coverage from them now. I can't think of a organisiation that actually represents the NWA in one way or another.

I only just watched the Slamiversary event yesterday that I taped off Bravo 2 and it was interesting to see what they did with the Heavyweight championship knowing they no longer have the NWA deal. What they did was have a controversial finish in the main event at Sacrifice where Sting was pinning Christian Cage who then at the same time Sting submitted to Kurt Angle's Ankle Lock. Angle was the winner of the NWA _title_ then afterwards on Impact Jim Cornette declared the _title_ vacant due to the controversy. So the new champion who would be decided in a King of the Mountain match at Slamiversary which Angle won.

With the tag teams belts held by Team 3D (The Dudley Boys) they didn't seem to mention that were swapped to from NWA to the new TNA version.
