Re: RIP Chris Benoit and family 10 Months, 2 Weeks ago
just seen the start of ECW on sky and I have to say Vince summed it up for me 26 hours after hearing of incident the show will not mention the name Benoit but will pay pay tribute to the people affected by this awful event. Vince you have made a mockery of ECW but your handling of this incident as been what can one say
Re: RIP Chris Benoit and family 10 Months, 2 Weeks ago
It is a gigantic media circus over here. The US Press keeps trying to _link_ steroids to the incidents. No concept of mental illness in the US Press apparently.
Simply put: I will sincerely miss Chris Benoit, Nancy Benoit, and God Bless Daniel.
Re: RIP Chris Benoit and family 10 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Vince McMahon made a very good point about this case - if Benoit had been a postman, nobody would have cared. But because of Benoit's chosen profession, the wrestling business is suddenly the most seedy and untrustworthy business in the world.
I found myself agreeing with the Ultimate Warrior when he appeared on Fox News a couple of nights ago - there's is a difference between steroid use and steroid abuse. He made a good point when he said that people like Arnold Schwarzenegger admitted to using steroids in the past, but they lived a healthy life_style_ and didn't over-use them. You could also use people like Hulk Hogan and the Warrior himself as another example of that.
But the way the press is playing up the steroid angle is sickening, making out that everyone who uses steroids is a steroid abuser. My sister-in-law is on pre_script_ion steroids because of long-term health problems. Does this make her a steroid abuser?
My dog also had a couple of steroid injections to help with a skin complaint a couple of years ago. So I suppose according to Fox News, he's an abuser as well.
And it's not just the American press that's doing this. Just go onto The Sun's website and look at what Simon Rothstein has to say. He's been burying the WWE for over a week now, but when they next tour over here, guess who'll be the first one getting in touch with them and asking for a press pass and interviews with the top stars?
The sooner the press calms down over this the better. It's a tragedy, but they're not helping matters at all.
