Very sad and shocking news. I don't know the man but enjoyed some of his matches in the ring especially against Chis Jericho, I enjoyed them as much as some of the British bouts in the past.

Was he evil? May be. Perhaps we should be looking at the events leading up to his behaviour. What caused him to behave in this way? He seen the video clip of Chris Adam and read Steve Regal's biography one wonders about the WWE life _style_, could that be the cause.

I am quiet certain the dark side of wrestling will start to appear in the next few weeks ie drugs taking and wrestlers at the WWE being over worked. Just before Benoit disappeared from the WWE about six months ago just after Angle had left there was rumours about him and a couple of other WWE wrestlers complaining about the tought schedule they have at the WWE.

My sincere condolences go out to Frank and anyone else on the board who had the misfortune to befriend someone whom we now know to have been a profoundly evil man. I expect that many of you found him in life to appear to be a decent human being and my sympathies go out to you all now that we learn what a despicable piece of work he truly was

I would presume that Frank Cullen, like many British wrestlers knew Chris Benoit from his time in Stampede wrestling.
Mr Mantell presumes that Chris Benoit fooled FCC and many others.....if you don't know then DO NOT PRESUME..
Do not presume FCC is some sort of fool and does not know his own mind unless you actually know the individuals personally here..

Having read the brief details of the case I am saddened that he had murdered two innocent people, one a 7 year old boy. I was overseas when this happened and thought it was another drugs overdose case or suicide, I didn't know about the murders.

We often read in the newspapers about so called "mercy" killings, where a child is extremely disabled and in constant pain, so much so that the parent feels that the only course of action is to end the life of the child. I have heard nothing so far to suggest that this was the case here. If indeed it turns out that he murdered his 7 year old son in cold blood, then I will never mention his name again and he will be deleted from my memory forever. As a father myself, I can never forgive this.

I have said my thoughts on this tragedy in the RIP thread but thought you may like to read J.R.'s thoughts on a man he knew very well.

Please don't go reading stuff into my comments that simply isn't there, - this simply isn't the time or place.

I think Vince McMahon summed it up perfectly when he retracted the WWE's tribute to Benoit and instead dedicated the ECW show to the people who knew Benoit. I seriously doubt if any of those people would have touched the guy with a bargepole if they had known he was capable of murdering his wife and child.

Normal bereavements are hard enough, but in a situation like this, one is not even left with the good memories of the person. The good memories are shattered by the monster that emerges from behind the public image. THAT is what an awful lot of people have been going through these last few days.
