I am horrified at what he has done but refrain from starting to call him evil or anything like that...as I said how about just a little respect for all concerned here and perhaps sometimes its best to say nothing...

Hi all,

Just a quick message to everyone - this is a very sensitive and upsetting situation to many people, lets be extra careful what is being said, in case it may be taken or read the wrong way by other people.

Re: Chris 10 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Three heinous acts does not destroy a lifetime. From accounts of those who knew him, Benoit was a quiet, humble, respectful man who adored his family. Whatever drove him to the crazed extremes of his final days has very little to do with "evil" and very much to do with illness, IMO.

What Benoit did was unforgiveable. Who he was for 40 years and 1 month of his life cannot and should not be judged _base_d on the final three days of his life.

Was it an act that I could condone or forgive? No-of course not.
Will I vilify the man's entire existence because of those acts? No.

I do not condone anyone taking a life - even legalised death penalties.

Many of these killings and suicides are results of people using drugs or drugs & alcohol mixed together. I have seen lots of evidence of this, even my own Brother-In-Law was murdered on January 30th 2007.

We need to help these people who take drugs and other substances that make them behave in an un-natural manner.

We ought to try to spot these people before they do harm to themselves or other people - I know that this is a very difficult thing to do because even Social Services often overlook some of the pretty obvious signs in peoples behaviour. Let us start with watching those people that we know and try to help them before they get themselves into serious trouble, let us try to help these people to overcome their problems.

Chris Benoit must have been quite a troubled person to have committed such horrific crimes against such soft targets. It is a pity that his bosses at WWE or members of his Family did not spot the danger signs earlier.

I will be praying for the Benoit Family and in particular for Chris himself, I pray that The Lord will forgive him for his actions against his Wife & Son, I will also be praying for The Lord to help us in trying to spot people such as Chris before they themselves can cause such problems.

I fully understand all the anger after Chris had taken not only his own life but more so for that of his Wife and young Son, this anger is a natural behaviour for us mere Human Beings, let us try to turn this anger into doing something a bit more constructive like looking out for unusual signs in peoples behaviour and let us try to find help for them.

Do not forget, "Vengeance is Thine Sayeth The Lord"

I raised a glass in his memory last night and that doesn't mean I condone what he did it means I will never forget the entertainment he provided.

If the use of steroids was an influential factor, why don't WWE and other feds ban them?

I raised a glass in his memory last night and that doesn't mean I condone what he did it means I will never forget the entertainment he provided.
Which was, of course, the very thing forgotten about on the earlier postings on this thread. I followed WCW for a while in the early '90s and on one of their videos from that time (sorry can't remember what it's called), the first match is between Benoit and 2 Cold Scorpio. It is very fast, intense, high-flying and skilful - the best match on that video by a country mile (mind you the last match on it sees Sting and Van Vader whacking each other with a leather strap). Incidentally, the second match saw one Davey Boy Smith beat Wild Bill Irwin.

I don't condone Benoit's actions, but his wrestling ability should be remembered. The Benoit-Scorpio match seems a good place to start.
