Liverpool Stadium was indeed a rough venue, but possibly not by today's standrads judging on the antics described in the thread on idiotic fans.
Hanley could (can) be quite rough too, which Kate would know more about than most. I remember Brian Dixon giving a severe telling off to a row of ringsiders a few years back.

Only visited Hanley a couple of times, and it had an atmosphere all its own.

Rough venues? Don't get me started! At Corby Civic Centre, they didn't even sweep the floor between bouts! The water in the seconds' buckets was from the warm tap!! Sometimes, the canteen ladies used the same tea-bag in more than one cup!!! At least twice when I went, the chairs weren't in an exactly straight line!!!! Ooh -- no wonder they pulled it down!!!!!

At least they had a teabag more than can be said for some places. When did they pull the Centre down?

You've called my bluff, here, as I'm not sure how much of it has been pulled down and which bits. The whole schemozzle is compounded by the fact that it used to be combined with the council offices, which I'm fairly sure have gone. I pledge to haver a look, next time I'm there. Meanwhile, here's a pic of how it used to look in the days when Pat Roach once drew up in a battered jag and asked the way to the wrestling.

I think you might be right. The venue might have gone,

In some ways it was a luxury venue, after all there was running water!

Over the years there have been some "great" venues, which all the lads and lasses can remeber.
