We now know that Blondie Barratt's mystery partner is Jackie Steel.

It is still a mystery to me!

Does anyone know who he (or she) is?

Frank Rimer has posted this article up on the reunion website.

There are only a few days to wait until wrestling event of the decade takes place at the Legends Show this Saturday, the 24th November at the Broxbourne Civic Centre , Near Ware, Herts. With tickets selling like hot cakes and more and more wrestling stars appearing as guests, this tremendous evening promises to be a wondeful mix of nostalgia and grappling skills not seen on one card since the great days of yesteryear.

LDN Promoter: SANJAY BAGGA said yesterday "I am extremely nervous but honoured to have such illustrious legends at this show and confident that we shall sell out. If not, I shall be enjoying a front row seat just to witness these great warriors showing their skills"

World lightweight Champion and probably the greatest technical wrestler on the planet : JOHNNY SAINT has been coaxed out of retirement for one more outing against the incomparable evergreen star : STEVE GREY .

Veteran TV star and legendary hard man : BRIAN 'Goldbelt' MAXINE will face the gifted technician and golden grappler 2007 : JOHNNY KIDD

'Superstar' MAL SANDERS who has reigned supreme for over 20 years tackles the amazing grappler JAMES MASON.

Liverpools own wrestling answer to the Beatles in the form of the International star : ROBBIE BROOKSIDE , the greatest enigma of the last thirty years: KENDO NAGASAKI , Northern star and idol : BLONDIE BARRATT, will all be wrestling as will LDN Champion : JON RITCHIE who defends his _title_ against the young handsome pretender and TV favourite : YORGHOS . Nagasaki's Manager and ace drummer : LLOYD RYAN with whom he fell out will face off together with his Son : PHIL RYAN against his old ally.

Guest referees will be the TV middle men : MAL MASON and BOBBY STAFFORD

As if that was not enough there will be appearances from MEL STUART, TONY 'Titch' WHITE, TOM THUMB, BILLY LA RUE, JOHNNY KINCAID, VINCE RANDELL, WAYNE BRIDGES, SARAH BRIDGES, to name but a few.

The widow of HANS STREIGER: Wendy Mellor and best friend, Britains greatest female grappler ; KLONDYKE KATE are also scheduled to appear.

TWC fight Channel supremo : SEAN HERBERT is flying in from Ireland and fans are travelling from as far away as Tokyo, Japan, Scotland and Wales. Regular Reunion fans are booking in block and a party from Bath/ Bristol known as the old seniles led by David Franklin and Ian Dowland are all making their way to the venue for a super weekend of wrestling.

Channel 4 television will be filming a documentary on the evening so hurry up and book a seat if you want to be televised !!!

We shall be celebrating the awesome 45 year career of legendary mat-man 'pretty boy' MEL STUART with a special presentation which we hope you will share with us.

See you all there for a fantastic evening.

Great news about channel 4. Let's hope they show plenty of action. Perhaps they might be tempted into showing some actual wrestling in the future. They have shown WCW and WWE, so why not LDN, WAW and wrestlezone in the future? Is it too much to ask to show the best of these shows say once a month? Good luck Sanjay.

Re:LDN Legends Showdown- Broxbourne 12 Months ago
What a wonderful and unforgettable evening of old _style_ professional wrestling!

The Broxbourne Civic Centre was completely full last Saturday night with fans of all ages ready for LDN’s “Legends Showdown”.

The first match featured the former European Middleweight Champion 'Superstar' Mal Sanders against All-Star Promotions former Heavyweight Champion, James Mason. Sanders was on marvellous form and at his most villainous, taking us all back to his “mouth of the south” period. I am certain at that time (about a decade ago) one of his many victims would have been the young James Mason. So it was again tonight, with Sanders cheating himself to a controversial win and receiving universal boos. The only cheer that he did receive was when he then took the microphone and promised everyone that “He would never ever ever ever ever ever be coming back here again” What a fantastic start!
It would be a shame if he meant it because on tonight’s showing Mal Sanders still has plenty of superb matches left in him (if he so desires).
Just to illustrate what an enigma this great star really is; I can report that the following night he appeared on a show for IPW UK in Orpington against none other than Johnny Kidd. These two then treated us to a cleanly fought, sporting old time wrestling feast. Not a foul committed all match; but that is Mal Sanders. A true legend!

I was very worried about the second contest because I have fond memories of Goldbelt Maxine as one of the very best from that golden era and it is common knowledge that of all those in action tonight he is the senior campaigner. I did not need to concern myself, he was on with that outstanding all round wrestler Johnny Kidd.
I am sure many older campaigners do wonder if they have got just one more top class match in them. Well tonight Brian Maxine did. Both men were outstanding with Maxine demonstrating the full repertoire of his villainy. We has his unpopular “forearm over the throat”, all those bullying forearms on the ropes, and he won with a perfectly executed example of his speciality rolling ankle lock. Afterwards we were even treated to Goldbelt Maxine very loudly reminding us that he truly was “The Greatest”.
On tonight’s showing who would dare to disagree with him?

The former Southern-Area Champion Frank Rimer of the Wrestler’s Reunion was then introduced to the audience and Frank then made a marvellous speech about those legends who had entertained us for so many years. He then introduced some of them to us in the ring. This was followed by a special achievement award to “Prettyboy” Mel Stuart.

The final bout before the interval was a Championship contest for the LDN belt between the Champion Jon Ritchie and the young challenger Yorghos Christopoulos.
It is a credit to both men that this match blended into tonight perfectly as yet another example of top class old _style_ grappling. To the joy of most in the audience young Yorghos defeated the “Infamous” John Ritchie and he is now the new LDN Champion. Yorghos gets better each time I see him and it was a well-deserved win for the younger man. However there are many in LDN who will want that belt for themselves, most of all John Ritchie, who I suspect considers that his belt has only been loaned to the young upstart. Yorghos will know himself that not only is he improving all the time but believe it or not so is the experienced John Ritchie, who is now wrestling better than ever!

After the interval came the tag match in which Robbie Brookside & Darren Ryan ( with Lloyd Ryan sat at ringside) took on the team of Blondie Barratt and Jackie Steel (with Kendo Nagasaki and his entourage sat at ringside).
They do say that if you cannot think of anything positive to say then it is best to say nothing!
All I will say is that Robbie Brookside and Blondie Barratt worked their backsides off to entertain the crowd and at one stage Barratt took a “bump” (following a flip from Brookside) worthy of Crusher Mason at his best. It nearly sent him into orbit and as he landed the entire hall shook.
In this match that was dedication way above and beyond the call of duty!
For those interested Kendo’s team won! Thank goodness we still had another match to go, nobody would have wanted to go home remembering this one!

It was now time for Johnny Saint v Steve Grey. However we had already been told earlier by Steve Lytton ( the first time I had seen or met him, what an outstanding MC LDN have) that Grey was injured and could not wrestle.
What was going to happen? Did Johnny Saint have an opponent? Our anxieties were answered as the men walked to the ring.
First the 10, 11, or is it 12, times World Lightweight Champion entered to an ovation from the entire hall; he was followed by Steve Grey, acting as second to the man who wanted to wrestle “Maestro Saint” -Johnny Kidd who would be working (if that is what you would call it) for the second time tonight.
Steve Grey must have been very disappointed to have missed out on this little moment of history, but who knows, maybe next year?
An award was made to Johnny Saint by a journalist who had travelled all the way from Japan for tonight’s show and then it was time for the final match of the evening.
It is at this point that those of us who were there can feel some sympathy for all you fans who missed out. The match that we saw is already being described as the “wrestling match of the decade”. It was amazing stuff, the audience was transfixed by these two old time wrestling masters, and I have no hesitation in saying two wrestling masters. They do say “it takes two to tango”.
Johnny Saint had not wrestled a competitive match for over 10 years (unbelievable) but all that genius was still there and so were all the old moves. Johnny Kidd was the perfect opponent. It was sheer joy!
Saint won by two falls to one and the entire hall rose to give both men a well-deserved and very long standing ovation. Absolutely wonderful!

What a fabulous nights wrestling! It gave us everything that we could possibly have expected and more. Thanks must go to the young LDN Promoter Sanjay Bagga who was brave enough to risk his own money on such a prestigious and risky event.
Sanjay (looking resplendent in black tuxedo) spent most of the evening chasing around like a gazelle (with a leopard on its tail), does that man EVER relax? Well he should relax now and give himself a huge pat on the back, it was a marvellous show and he deserves much of the credit.
I understand that Sanjay is already thinking about a “Legends Showdown II” for next year. If Steve Grey’s back injury does heal then the main event must already be pencilled in. How about Blondie Barratt v Johnny Kidd, both men looked very impressive this year and I’m sure they could be persuaded to go for it, one more time.
One small request to the organisers. It all ran very smoothly and we are all grown ups. The tickets all had seat numbers and row letters. Save a bit of stress next year and don’t bother to hire the Gestapo to ensure that everyone sits in the right place at the right time. I moved at one stage and nearly got a “red card”. I would hate to have spent the entire show in the “cooler”!

Well done Sanjay and keep up the good work!

One word as I end to suggest that you all do not wait until next year. Young promoters like Sanjay Bagga are putting on wrestling shows all over the country right now and some great wrestling shows they are. The IPW show the following day that featured Mal Sanders and Johnny Kidd also featured top younger British talent like Martin Stone and Andy Simmonz as well as top international stars from Germany (Bad Bones) and America (Chris Hero).
It may not be "British _style_" but a lot of it is still very good. If enough of us go along and ask for "rounds" who knows what might happen. Chris Hero actually said to the crowd during a question and answer session that he thought that "rounds matches provided for more intersting contests".
At the risk of sounding like the nearly extinct Dowlandsaurus – “Let’s all get off our bums and support British Wrestling – now!”

Yes, they had a rivalry in All Star in 1995. I remember they had a mixed tag where Mason was pinned by Klondyke Kate - I thought that was the most amazing thing I'd ever seen at the time!

I'll echo the call for Barratt vs Kidd - they had a fantastic match on an independent show I say in 1997. They even managed to enthral the children who'd come along to see 'Dunk the Clown'.

In case anyone's missed it, there's a new thread on here where Sanjay's _link_ed to a video of the first round of Saint vs Kidd. You would never guess Saint's age from watching it.
