At the old Norwich Corn Exchange the punters got involved every week, all the wrestlers pleaded to be baby faces

oh and this doesn't reflect on British Wrestling per se, since most of these promotions are basically US _style_ indies with Brit accents.
Please explain why this is not perceived as part of the British scene by those punters who just go to THE WRESTLING and do not possess the insight into the sport that we profess to have?

I was referring to your comment "it really shows the depths to which British Wrestling promotion has sunk."

British Wrestling hasn't sunk. New School is a separate phenomenon from traditional British wrestling. From the early 90s until late 2001, never the twain did meet.

How did Finlay deal with the situation?

I guess the best thing for a wrestler to do in this rare situation is to get him to the mat and hold him there until security come to escort him out. This maybe a little different with a heel.

Not all venues had security back in the 1980s.

Finlay sorted the guy out got hiom out of the ring and other punters and the lads there on the show got involved, not a good night really.

There were some of the lads and lasses who would not come to Norwich, it was thought to be one of the toughest venues.

Unfortunately David, you are so right. It's also unfortunate that many casual fans(who make up a big percentage of showgoers whether the 'marks' like it or not) do not disciminate. It's all wrestling to them.

Too right Rick, and great satisfaction was gained by the other fans when we watched the pricks get their come-uppance at the hands ofthe wrestlers and/or officials
The difference then was the interference was a result of the heat generated by the antics in the ring, with certain highly excitable individuals not being able to control themselves. Nowadays Very few wrestlers (esp. so-called 'new school') are able to produce this reaction. It has to be a 'work' apparently, and the fact that the promoter wasn't in on this particular occasion beggars belief in my eyes.

I know I have not followed this thread as I should but what do you mean that the promoter was not in on this particular occasion?
