Idiotic Fans 1 Year, 2 Months ago

Last night I was at a show and during an Inter-Fed match between Darren Burrige v James Tighe, James Tighe was thrown out of the ring and his landed on the floor, whilst he laid here a adult fan climbed into the ring and started arguing with referee Andy 'Theo Walcott' Quildan whilst a young child (about 9 yea old) climbed onto the apron of the ring and then dived off the ring onto the outspread James Tighe.
In 49 years of following Wrestling this is the first time that I have seen fans do anything so stupid as climbing into the ring whilst Professional match is taking place also for a kid to do something so stupid and extremely dangerous as this, I do pray that this type of action does not start a trend.
After the kiddie dived from the ring onto James then we all saw him walking towards the main doors in tears, he went to the paramedic that was on duty - apparently he had hurt himself whilst do the stupid move from the apron, I do not want to see anyone get hurt but this kid brought it on himself and I do hope that it has taught him a lesson.
Some of the blame for this young lads stupid action must be put at the feet of the adult that was distracting the referee plus those that were egging the kid on.
I hope with hindsight that this young lad plus those that supported his action can now see the dangers and see just how dangerous this nonsense can be, this kid got hurt but it could have so easily had turned out much worse.
As it says on TV all he time. ''PLEASE DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME'' and I will add to this by pleading with everyone not to try to Wrestle until you have had proper training, it is so very easy to injure yourself. I hope that this young lad has learned his lesson and will think before he does anything so very silly and dangerous again.
The adult that climbed into the ring to distract the referee do not know how very close he came to getting a smack because once you enter the ring a Wrestler will give you a slap, I know that once he had entered the ring and was interfering with the referee two Wrestlers were on the way to the ring to sort out the trouble but luckily for the bloke he got out of the ring himself.
We have recently seen some very serious injuries that Professional Wrestlers have received - if these trained Wrestlers can get injured then the untrained fans are even more at risk if ever they do something so stupid as to enter the ring.
If you want to Wrestle then please go and get trained at a reputable Wrestling school and do things in the correct way, remember Wrestling is dangerous and even the hardest of Wrestlers do get hurt.

Sorry but I have great difficulty in believing that you've never seen THAT happen before! It has happened many times on both sides of the Atlantic.
It even happened on televised World Of Sport matches. Straight off the top of my head there were two guys who climbed into the ring in Jan '77 during Kendo Nagasaki vs Giant Haystacks at Bradford's St George's Hall.
I TOTALLY agree it's a bloody stupid thing for people to do, but it's not "starting a trend" - it's something that's always been a danger. At least the guy didn't have a knife with him - as once happened to Roddy Piper.

Barriers, Ring/Venue Security & and fully qualified 'first aid at work' first aider are part of the terms of the most of the Public Liability Insurance providers in the UK.
If its not a work and that guy fell off the ring, or that kid got hurt unfortunatly IPW would have been liable and could be sued.
The barriers are a first form of defence from both fans getting to wrestlers and wrestlers falling into fans, for a fan to jump the barrier this should give the ring security, even the promoter to sort it out. I am sorry but there is no way a member of the public should ever get to the stage where he is in the ring.
Only once did a muppet try this on a wZw show, he got over the barrier and before he hot a leg up on the ring apron he was tackled and ejected from the building. A warning was made before all shows, that if anyone did cross the barrier thats what will happen.
Thing is at the end of the day these things happen, and if no one was hurt and a lesson was learnt then all is good and well. At least IPW are putting on shows that the fans feel like they want to jump in.
Just a side note, Ian is IPW your latest target for flaming, just noticed your last two posts are pretty negitive against the company. A few weeks ago were you not having a go at LDN?

As I quoted on the other topic...
I'd like to clarify that Ricc had no part to do with the running of the show in question. The fact that 4 or 5 people 'knew' it was going to happen does not mean that it was a planned part of the show. Perhaps to the 4 or 5 people who 'knew' about it, but certainly not to the people that matter, being myself and the referee, Andy Quildan. As such, it is not a "work" or a "spot", it was stupid. Other people who encouraged this to happen have already apologised and the footage will never see the light of day.

I do not purposely criticise anyone, I tend to speak as I find, I tend to speak about the show or event that I had just recently visited, so I could be talking about anyone or any promotion. Incidentially in this thread I was talking about the silly action about something that I thought was dangerous, not about any individual promotion.
Am I not allowed opinions or say the things that I feel.
David, you might not believe it but I have never seen this kind of action at a Wrestling show before - however I did see it once at a boxing show, maybe I have held a sheltered life.
