Time to get your thinking caps on lads...
I'm after a list of all _title_ belts that are currently active in this country (who holds them and what promotion) as well as what has happened to other _title_s that are now inactive and who were the last people to hold them.

British _title_s:
Heavyweight: Now very severely disputed. The most prestigious version was recently won by Robbie Brookside in Liverpool from Doug Williams
Mid Heavyweight. Vacant since the death of Mike Marino in 1982. Debatably the NWA UK Jnr Heavyweight _title_ could be seen as a revival of Marino's belt.
Light Heavyweight Alan Kilby is champion and has been since 1998. He's retiring next year tho - no word yet on the _title_'s future.
Heavymiddleweight Inactive since the Danny Collins-Richie Brooks storyline in 1990. Collins has since focused on other weight divisions, notably Middleweight.
Middleweight. Re-activated after several years following Brian Maxine's retirement. Has been the subject of a major Mal Sanders vs James Mason feud this year in the TWA
Welterweight Reactivated this year after being neglected by All Star. Jodie Fleisch recently won the _title_ from Johnny Storm
Lightweight. Held by Steve Grey since 1998. He still wrestles for the PWF
Women's: Sweet Saraya.
European _title_s:
Heavyweight. Doug Williams holds EWU recognition (major version unified by Robbie Brookside in 2001)
Mid-Heavyweight Vacant since the death of Mike Marino in 1982.
Light-Heavyweight Disappeared into obscurity on the Continent in the early '70s
Heavy-Middleweght: Never came to the UK
Middleweight: Last reported sighting in 1995 when Jason Cross won the _title_ from Mal Sanders.
Welterweight: Inactive since Danny Collins moved up from welterweight in 1990
Lightweight: Steve Grey is champion since 1991 and still holds recognition - was recently referred to as champ on Wrestlecall
Women's: Klondyke Kate
World _title_s: Heavyweight The EWP in Germany has the only old-school European version of this _title_. Otherwise there's just the WWE and NWA _title_s plus sundry versions in Japan and Mexico. WWA _title_ ended when Wayne Bridges retired in '89. CWA _title_ ended when company closed in '97.
Mid-Heavyweight. Marty Jones is recognised as champion but is now virtually retired to his pub. Nearest alternative: NWA World Jnr Heavyweight _title_
Light-Heavyweight. UK has recognised NWA version (_base_d in Mexico) as official since mid '70s (except for brief spell circa '83)
Heavy-Middleweight: Chic Cullen has held this championship since beating Robbie Brookside in 1992. He still wrestles and is on this board but doesn't tend to respond well to questions about his championship status.
Middleweight: Enjoyed a succesful revival during 1991-98 (after Adrian Street dumped the _title_ before heading off to the USA in '81). Last champion Steve Grey vacated _title_ in '98 to focus on lightweight division. NWA World Middleweight _title_ is in Japan
Welterweight: UK recognised NWA _title_ as official since 1971. This version was _base_d in Mexico but moved to Japan in 1995.
Lightweight: Uncertain. Most records still list Jonny Saint as champion, but I've read reports that the _title_ later passed on to Johnny Kidd and thence to Steve Grey. Which would currently make Steve Grey triple-crown champion at lightweight.

With the coming of a new fed or promotion we get a raft of new 'champions'---------and without all the companies being a member of a 'governing' body , how can we have 'true' champions? From a fans eye view , a lot of us old guys got excited about The Univesal Heavywieght Championship and applauded All Star, TWA, WAW, FWA & Pemier Promotions for putting 'differences' to one side and getting it going.Alas it didnt catch the fans imagination and now omly seems to be fought for on TWA cards, although I stand to be corrected. When all the Feds and promotions stop the 'infighting' and get together us fans will be able to unite and recognise 'one true champ'.
