Ways to improve British Wreslting... 6 Years, 6 Months ago
OK, let's not bullshit people here, British Wreslting currently has a very low standard, even compared to the general US Independant company. Most companies just run spot-fests and sports-entertainment-_style_ shows, emulating Vince McMahon because "that's what the fans want"...

Well, how can it be improved...???

I have my own points to add later on but feel free to add yours first.

To make British wrestling better we need to put the W back in wrestling. Most of you will know most of my views by reading my columns, but for those that dont i believe its time for British wrestling to take a step back rather than 2 steps forward and work more on wrestling and bring back the uniqeness that British wrestling had back in its glory days. British wrestling has lost its character, its now become a WWE wannabe, and a very poor one at that . Wrestlers are trained how to do moonsaults and high flying manouvres and are trained less at wrestling. People like Mark Sloan and the FWA and a few more trainign camps should be ashamed how they train their trainees. All these trainers want is the money from training the guys and gals, and that to me stinks, look at Alex Shane and then ask yourelf if he is claiming to be the best then British wrestling must be in a very bad way. Truth is Alex is sodding awful, and British wrestling needs to add the W to wrestling and forget the sports entertainment, i am sure if you put on a good wrestling show with substance and uniqeness then the fans will enjoy and respect it more, and also have the wrestling look more real than the fake look it gives today.

:?: :?:
Im glad that it would seem im not in the minority here with these feelings on english wrestling as it stands today .
However , as it is , the question should be , what EXACTLY do we do to rectify this siteeation ??? .
Do we go back to working a stiff , submission _base_d _style_ ? .... do promoters actively tell their roster , that if the roster members use more than 3 high impact / high spot moves , that we will fire their asses ? .
Like Aaron and Jack have hinted at in the past , not only has Vinny Mac killed US wrestling with his monoploy on US wrestling , but i do beleive , in my heart of hearts , that he has killed UK wrestling ... and that makes me sick to my stomach .
Aaron , Jack ... do you think it is possible to stop the rot , in UK wrestling , and start to turn back the tide on this ??? .
I would love to talk to you guys aboot this , as i for one dont care how old you guys are , i think you 2 guys have something to say , and i am willing to take you on and listen to you ( This aint a rib , this is straight up !!! )

We need to ditch the sports entertianment and focus on having our own _style_ like we did in the old days. No point in being a wannabe WWE because thats just imposible, we just blatantly look like a cheap rip off and lets face it right now we are. They say the British _style_ was mat and submission. I for one think that in the states they have sports entertainment, in mexico they have lucha, in japan its puroresu and in the uk it will be mat and submission we will be known for, not poorly imitated sports entertainment. Or at least I hope wrestling fans say that in the future.

Right now most ignorant fans say that the old british _style_ is "old school" WTF?? Thats the way British Wrestlng should still be there's nothing old school about it, that was our _style_ but unfortunatly its been forgoton about and replaced by cheep wwe _style_ rip offs (and I'm not talking about tributes). I want to learn the old school way but its really not old school at all its just the _style_ UK wrestling should have. Thats the _style_ it used to be respected for in the old days, I want it to be respected again but how do we go about it? Now a day's all the fans (98% of them are 8-12 mind you) want to see whats on TV and right now thats WWE so UK Wrestling has to get a TV deal with a promotion that showcases the Original British _style_ but can it really happen?

I think I'm right in thinking foreign wrestlers used to be actually sent to the UK to learn parts of the "British/European" _style_ it was so well-respected...

Nowadays what's there to respect?
