The Annual British Wrestlers Reunion 5 Years, 3 Months ago
I have just returned from the reunion, and would like to sincerely thank the organisers, Tony Scarlo, Joe D'Orazio, "Bomber" Pat Roach, and Wayne Bridges, for the really great day. So many of the great legends from the past where there, as well as the up and coming talent of today. As a fan of long standing I would like to thank all the wrestlers, past and present, for spending the time to talk, and be photographed. For fans, wrestlers , referees, M.C.s, and even a top promoter to mingle together was why the day was such a success. With the temperature reaching a record 37c, during the afternoon, it is a wonder that "The Bridges" did'nt run out of beer! Well done everyone, and I look forward to next year, although I do hope it is not so hot.

Me and Brett got back from the reunion about midnightish (caught the 8:15 train home with some of the Dropkixx guys, but we had to come back to Southampton).

We originally arrived at 10:30 as we managed to catch an earlier connecting train somehow so we hung around Leeraj's newsagent for a while (Jay and Silent Bob _style_!) as this was the only other place around other than the pubs.

Got into the Bridges pub at 11:30 and was drinking out in the sun for 8 hours, until around 19:30 (and somehow still manage to be awake for 8am!).

Thanks to Frank Rimer for taking the time to walk around with us and introduce us to everyone. Was also nice to chat to Tony Scarlo and meet a lot of the ppl from Dropkixx (names I remember of the top of my head are Silvano, Liz, Kieran, Leroy, Anthony, Dan and Baxter).

Quick mention to some of the other people I remember seeing and/or chatting to: Alex Shane, Abbey Shane, Paul Travell, Dino Scarlo, Pitbulls, Tom Lancaster, Dan Ambrose, Chris "Wrestling Furnace" Owens, Doug Williams, Brian Dixon, Mitzi Mueller, Chic Cullen, The Vicar (who's name I have forgotten), Pat Roach, Mick McManus, Spencer Churchill, Johnny Saint and a lot of others but I still have a headache at the moment from the beer and sun

Was nice to chat to Ted Gordienko who is travelling various countries trying to find more information on his late uncle Georges Gordienko. If anyone has any information on Georges please let me know so I can pass it on.

Thanks to the organisers Chris mentioned above, as well as to Wayne and Sarah Bridges and everyone involved in setting up, serving and catering (especially for that lovely lasagne ).

Was a great day with no one too busy to stop to chat, have a photo taken, or even just to shake hands. Was a great day which was worth the £100 spent by Brett and myself (although half of that was train fares) and I recommend anyone to try to get there for next year, if only just for an hour.

Thanks again to everyone involved and everyone who took the time to chat with us.

...good to meet you guys too. The "vicar" I introduced you to is the reverend John S. Bach, he is a genuine reverend and a lecturer in criminology at Coleraine and I kid you not a direct descendant of the famous composer Johan Sebastian Bach !!!University in N.Ireland.....he loves wrestling, was a close friend of Giant Haystacks and often M.C.'s for visiting promotions in N.I.....yes it was a good day out, the 9 hour round trip was worth it....great to see my 11 year old daughter pointing out who was who to some of the aforementioned smart marks

The best thing about the day was the education we received on a lot of the guys and the interesting stories they had to tell. I strongly suggest anyone with an interest in wrestling to attend next year.

We are looking to create a section dedicated to british wrestling history but are still in the process of planning out exaclty what it would contain, how it would be structured etc. Any input/ideas are welcome.

I can only add to what Lee has written. It was a fantastice day out and an experience I will never forget - rubbing shoulders with the likes of Johnny Saint and Mick McManus, and a whole host of others. The thing for me was that I thought it was great to see some of best British wrestlers of all time chatting to some of todays top trainees and up and comers. They have so much to pass on and it is vital that we get that information.

Special mentions goe to Frank Rimer for all the introductions he gave us, The one and only Italian Phenom both for the chats during the day, and his train stories!, all the DropKixx guys and gals, especially Baxter.

Very good day, counting down to next year!
