Funny, isn't it? It's a shame that the full quote didn't fit:
"Most people who want to wrestle have no idea what they are getting into. By the time they realize they have gotten into an industry second only to porn in coruption where they are onthe level of circus animals, they have put to much effort in to admit what they have done."
-------------
Seriously, though, is it too late? Whilst old/traditional British Wrestling had the respect-factor, it wouldn't work today. Looking back, the whole stigma of "realism" doesn't work because the action itself wasn't realistic and elements of overt-showmanship certainly didn't help matters either. Going back and doing a traditional _style_ would be more a nostalgia trip than a way forward to redeeming any respect factor and making the British scene alive (as in to the globe, not just the people involved; as far as 99/9% of wrestling fans around the world are concerned, there is no scene as such in Britain, and the scene is at a so-small-you-need-to-look-at-the-radar-through-a-magnifying-glass level).
I can only hope that my hopes concerning wrestling in this country can, at some point, reach a mediocrely-realistic chance. Right now, realistically, the chance of a respect-worthy, fantastic 'scene' (that is, consistently good wrestling, no flat-out EMBARASSING Spiderman/tribute bullshit n matter how much Spinner McKenzie/whomever gets off at seeing a guy pretending to wrestle dressed in Spiderman pyjamas, no need to bitch yourselves stylistically to pantomime/spotFU because you "have no choice", regular sold out crowds at larger venues, no media-ridiculing, and the scene being known and respected by every single person in this country and by all wrestling/sports fans around the world).
Of course, at this point, I can't find a single, even ridiculously-small company who can offer me what I'm looking for, and what will be, in the long run, best for British Wrestling.

The contest was excellant, and while the majority of the wrestlers who were on the show enjoyed the contest, and said it was one of the best bouts in Britain last year, 99% of the fans just didn't get it. Because there was no running of the ropes and no high-spots, some in the crown shouted "boring" and "start wrestling". - Mr Two Sheds
Thoroughly agree with Mr Two Sheds posting. I saw that particular contest and it was a totally engrossing bout. The problems don't always lie with what goes on in the ring, it is the attitude of the great majority of 'wrestling fans'. Whilst promotion in this country is fragmented, with no inter-cooperation, I'm afraid that there is little chance of any of the smaller promotion companies risking monies on a _style_ as suggested, as failure would finish them off. Fat chance of the high profile boys doing it either - they'd rather cater for the 'fans' weaned on WWF/E. Even in wrestling we follow the Yanks !!!!

Jack, are you training the art of pro wrestling in England? If not, who the hell are you say weither its real or not! Just because you can switch on the tv and see The Rock slap his hand while punching doesnt mean its entertaining! In N.W.A UK your thought if your gonna throw a fist, connect or dont do it!
