The sad thing is that I don't think the audience British wrestling promotions outside of the FWA targets would get a UFC-type of wrestling match.

A perfect example of this was at WAW's October Outrage IV last year, in which Doug Williams and Flash Barker fought in a shoot-_style_ contest with a points system. Each guy started off with 5 points, but lost a point if they used the ropes to escape a hold, that sort of thing.

The contest was excellant, and while the majority of the wrestlers who were on the show enjoyed the contest, and said it was one of the best bouts in Britain last year, 99% of the fans just didn't get it. Because there was no running of the ropes and no high-spots, some in the crown shouted "boring" and "start wrestling".

While it would take a someone with a lot of bottle to start a promotion like this, it would take a while for the average British wrestling fan to become accustomed to such as _style_. Personally, I'd love to see it, but I just don't think it would happen.
