Re: Wrestling Copyrights? 5 Years, 2 Months ago
This is often the case.... Many people get involved in things on where they do not know of any legal implications. A lot of people aren't ignorant to the law, they just dont understand legality.

In my line of work I need to know the law as regards to performers, shows, events and any other business venture you can think of that involves people. Yes, I have studdied hard and reached a good level that many others could only dream of getting to... Now.... I read the topic's to do with things i am interested in and stumble over this particular topic. The main thing that caught my eye in this is the fact that people are arguing over something that in this country would not really stand up in any court and certainly wouldn't make you rich. In order to Patent and 100% copyright something you must:
* Have an original idea
* DO NOT disclose it to anyone
* Go about officially Copyrighting/patenting it
* Show it off to the public

You cannot patent something that has been seen before... Even if it was YOU showcasing it... The patenting/copyrighting must come before all of that. That is the only way your products will be protected.

EWC... On a side note, I've checked in to the viability of your company and there is no listing of it. Register it and stop moaning before I slip Companies House a nice crisp £20.... Remember, all's fair in love and business.

Take Care

I know... I checked EWCPure. By the way, I wasn't saying it to be a Nasty Bas**rd, I was saying it to set an example. Everyone needs to start conducting their business properly

For a start, patents and copyrights are different things (you prolly know this already). You patent an Idea/Invention (basically a 'physical' _object_ or process), you copyright works or intelectual works, not ideas.

It true that in order to patent something you must apply to the patent office for patent rights. (Seen the advert about who invented the telephone? Classic case)

You do NOT have to apply to anyone for copyright on something that you have done (assuming the thing you have done is original). Copyright exists as soon as the work is deemed copyrighted by its creators. (As with all legal issues, if you intend to fight this point in court, you will have to have written a witnessed document stating that you have copyrighted it and when such a work was created, signed, dated etc at the time you copyrighted it)

This is the how the law stands with regards to Dance/Dramatical productions (closest to wrestling I could find really), and you can read the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 at this _link_
http://www.hmso.gov.uk/acts/acts1988/Ukpga_19880048_en_1.htm
If you got a few days to waste.

And I don't even know what your talking about with this 'You must show it off to the public' stuff. Thats just seems like nonsense. Not to mention you claim that you cannot disclose it to anyone. Doesn't that contradict itself? :?

And its true, according to our government, EWCpure is not registered.
If it is registered, I would find out why they claim it ain't...

I've been through this already....

Thanks for confirming the EWCPure thing too
