http://www.mediaweek.co.uk/ThisWeek.News.View.aspx?ContentID=8907David Goffin, previously the commercial director of Clear Channel Radio, has launched a new media sales agency called Dolphin Television which is focused on trading in digital TV inventory and counts Sky among its first clients.
Dolphin, which Goffin has created with joint managing director Mike Wells, has a two-tier business model.
The agency will sell the downtime on digital TV shopping channels such as Screenshop and will concentrate on helping niche, new DTV channels get off the ground by selling them to agencies and advertisers.
Goffin said: “This is very uncommon. It’s a new business working at the niche end of the digital market selling traditional advertising space.”
Attheraces, the digital racing brand which is a joint venture between Channel 4, Sky and Arena Leisure, and the recently launched 24-hour music channel Chart Show TV, are the first multichannel brands to be added to Dolphin’s books.
Sky has signed up the agency to sell advertising on its channels Sky Sports 1, 2 and 3 and Sky Sports Extra, and Sky Premier Widescreen, as well as on the History Channel, the Biography Channel and National Geographic Adventure One.
Dolphin will also handle inventory on shopping channels on the Sky Digital platform that do not broadcast on a 24-hour basis.
Candida Jackson, who previously headed sales of the Pepsi Network Chart at Capital Radio, has joined Dolphin Television as head of sales on Chart Show TV.
the agency has also persuaded Tony Sweeney, head of sales from attheraces, to join the company.
