Did Big Daddy really knock out John Quinn at Wembley? Was the man John Quinn put down before the match a plant? Did Haystacks ever win over Daddy ( apart from tag matches Ive seen )When did Big Daddy last wrestle and where?? Dougie Trendle from Bad Manners tells me Haystacks & Daddy hated each other in real life ( he met both, several times in the early 80s during Tiswas ) but The Wrestling novel tells a different story? Will I ever stop asking questions!

That was the booked result.
Was the man John Quinn put down before the match a plant? Probably not- there were enough marks you could wind up back then. And a lot of the plants thing nowadays comes from the great American sport of lawsuits - Yanks will sue the pants off each other just for a laugh.
Did Haystacks ever win over Daddy ( apart from tag matches Ive seen )
One tag match on TV in 1978. Btw, anyone, what was the result of the Nov '77 singles Daddy-Haystacks bout? (which set up the big Xmas '77 Daddy & Tony StClair vs Haystacks & Baron Donovan bout taped at the same Wolves Civic Hall show as Kendo's unmasking ceremony)
When did Big Daddy last wrestle and where??
In Hornsey, circa 1993. He suffered a stroke after taking a bash on the head and had to quit then and there. The stroke that killed him in '97 was a relapse of that one. Davey Boy smith was grafted in to replace Big Daddy but was eventually lured back to America, leaving Joint/RWS up sh1t creek big-time. Max Crabtree eventually sold the company on to Ken Joyce in '95.

Most people didn't get on with Shirley, he really wasn't a very nice man. But I don't think he and Haystacks really hated each other.

I remember the tag from 1978 when Haystacks and Big Bruno Elrington beat Daddy and Garry Wensor, it was announced that Wensor was subbing for Dave Armstrong but I couldn't see the point of the match as it never led anywhere. I know Big Daddy was still being billed at the 1993 Christmas holiday but whether he was there I don't know but soon after that Davey Boy Smith took over headlining duties for the Crabtree's. I always wonder what exactly the Crabtree's sold to Ken Joyce in 1995 as wrestling was down the pan then and there weren't any bona fide top of the billers or even much in the way of audience then.

A small northern indie company called Ring Wrestling Superstars which, it so happened, had bloodlines back to a whole heap of historically important promotion. It was more the heritage value than anything else that would have made Ken Joyce buy the company - a glorified piece of memorablilia.
And there was quite a bit going on in '95 particularly in All-Star - Robbie Brookside's heel turn and feud with Doc Dean, James Mason & Jason Cross's quests for Mal Sanders' European Middleweight _title_, the Power Rangers, Haystacks on the loose as a babyface, King Kendo working with Lloyd Ryan and declaring war on all the real Nagasaki's old enemies, Johnny Saint vs Tony Stewart World Lightweight _title_ bouts, Danny Collins's futher heelward evolution into Dirty Dan Collins, a young, very green Saraya learning the ropes, Dave Taylor's British Heavyweight _title_ tournament win and subsequent feud with Marty Jones, Kilby vs Murphy for the British Light-Heavyweight _title_, Big John Prayter as European Hwt Champ, Rico the Gladiator from the USA etc etc.

I wonder if Mr Mantell could let me know some of the wrestlers that Ken Joyce used in his company and when he ceased his wrestling shows?

To me there were some decent bills in 1995 but numerically the number of tournaments was on the decline. I think it was when a lot of the old halls who had wrestling there for years finally gave up.
