If face vs face matches were so good then how come so many heels are created these days and do become successful e.g Regal. Yeah they can be great matches i admit

and how can you say if i cant sit through a tape of 3hr clean british wrestling im not a fan period

Robbie has the ability to entertain and im pleased to hear he was a heel when touring. Faces are important and i will cheer them but im saying that heels play a major part as well and dont seem to get the same publicity as faces seem to

Wrestling is as important as entertainment and i appreciate the wrestling which these athletes do but as some of you say entertainment is a big part these days mainly thanks to america and there dramatic and i admit sometimes crap story lines

Also there is too much importance on money these days and people do need to stay loyal like Brookside. Im not questioning his ability But this problem is plaguing all sports and somein needs to be done to stop sell outs

Regal was already massively succesful everywhere else in the world as a no-nonsense scientific wrestler and only ever became a comic-heel in WCW because they didn't know what else to do with him. In any case America rarely has face vs face bouts, especially not clean friendly bouts. The American business rates the ability to work a crowd higher than actual wrestling ability. so most bouts over there are face vs heel.

It's a particular feature of the entertainment-orientated, crowd-working emphasis the USA's wrestling culture has taken since the 1950s onwards. As are the increasingly looser interpretation of the rules and, most obviously, the eschewing of "human chess" technical matwork in favour of a "high impact" _style_ (features of which include vast amounts of rope-bouncing and each move being performed as a spot unto itself)

and how can you say if i cant sit through a tape of 3hr clean british wrestling im not a fan period

I just did, so there!

How can anyone call themselves a WRESTLING fan if they can't watch undiluted no-nonsense WRESTLING?

(And don't give me any "no-one wants to watch it" crap - British wrestling's great triumph was that, via ITV, it educated millions of the public to become connosieurs of serious technical wrestling. Made people like George Kidd and Mike Marino into household names. So you see it can be done.)

It need not necessarily be British wrestling tho. Equally, clean bouts from other European countries (during their old-school eras), clean mat-_base_d Puro bouts, old clean bouts from Mexico before it _meta_morphosed into aerial Lucha in the mid-late 60s, even old newsreel footage of great scientific bouts from America in the 20s/30s/40s/early 50's.

calm down 5 Years, 11 Months ago
calm down davidmantell its not real

I can watch no nonsense wrestling and have been a wrestling fan for a long time and respect the people who do it

And yeah it did have great success and educated millions but why is it not shown now and the WWE is a multi million franchise

Technical wrestling is good but i feel at places like Croydon we need to see some new moves as i feel some matches are the same each month. They need to develop more of there own moves  and stop copying previous wrestlers

British wrestling has a good future and hopefully it can combine technical wrestling and entertainment :o . But i feel the younger generation is after entertainment more than technical perfection. Im not saying agree with it but with the WWE so big its gonna get worse. It can be done but its gonna be very hard with the new generation and there desperation to be entertained.
Maybe we need to look more at the future opposed to the past :?

Every time i go to Croydon i see less and less people  and i feel there not attracting the young audiences. This may be different somewhere else but im just saying from my personal experience
We need to somehow attract them and maybe focus on entertainment. I know some of you dont like this and im not toatally happy either but we need to look in the best intrests of the sport and its future. Look at the success of Revival which shows it can be done and attract the t.v and more younger audiences and these people will decide its future

In relation to your posts Diamond

1 - Why post new messages when you can just edit the original ones

2 - Problem: The falling audience figures at Cryodon
Fact: All-Star shows at Cryodon are on a Tuesday - many people during the main part of the year go to school/work/college. Many people might not be able to get there and back on a weeknight (myself included) when they have to get up early for work/school/college the next day.

3 - Problem: British Wrestling isn't a multi million £ franchise
Fact: Vince McMahon has a personal wealth of over a billion, which was established by his Father when he created the original WWE - there isn't that sort of money in the UK industry. It could also be a problem with the falling audience figures - if the money isn't there to promote a show, then you won't get the people through the doors - nuff said

4 - Problem: More enterianment is need
Fact: If you want enterainment - go watch a panto - or a sitcom. Revival was not actually as great of a success as you think it was - if it was why haven't Bravo continued showing British Wrestling on its channel? Why was the event a great loss?

5 - Problem: New moves are needed
Fact: The last time I checked there was only a certain number of ways that the human body could physically bend and twist without hurting themselves or others that they are working with. At the end of the day - everything in this world is copied one way or the other and it is harder and harder to have more originality. You also claim that you want enterainment - people do these sorta moves which you claim that are just copies of other wrestlers because the fans want to see them.
