Three pieces of advice to any trainees/wannabes:
1.Show respect to the other wrestlers.
2.Listen well and be thankful to advice you get from other wrestlers.
3.Don't believe that you are better than you really are. A bad attitude will get you nowhere.

I believe those three things will get you a long way in "paying your dues".

I am a Norwegian who started wrestling in Britain six and a half years ago, and I have been lucky to get advice and training from other wrestlers, many of the best in Britain, to whom I always will be greatful.

Great to hear from Klondike Kate, one of the true entertainers and probably the only real personality left on the Ladies Wrestling Scene.

Hi Kate, you comments and observations were absolutely 'spot on' as far as I'm concerned. The true greats of British Wrestling possessed technical skills in abundance, were 'hard' men, and thus had the main qualitity that the majority of wrestlers today do not have:
THE ABILITY TO MAKE IT LOOK REAL !
This could be applied to all the wrestlers named, as well as quite a few more.
Long may you continue to entertain us Kate - your clashes with Princess Paula still rank among my favourite Ladies Matches of all time.

I'd have to disagree with the comment about "making it look real" because it just, well, DIDNT. Granted, I haven't seen a great amount of old British Wreslting but most of it was pretty contrived, in a similar fashion to Lucha-Libre but completely different techniques. That's not necessarilly a BAD thing, it doesn't stop anything like storytelling, build et al, but it definitely, wasn't realistic. Realistic, shoot-_style_ wrestling is completely different in form.

Point taken. The days of Jackie Pallo ( if I dare mention his name) Mick McManus, Les Kellett etc and the 60's TV personality bouts were certainly contrived. But this era also brought us the likes of Mike Marino, George Kidd etc who were real 'wrestlers'.
However, look a little beyond Dale Martin to the early days of Brian Dixon onwards. His live shows were a quantum leap beyond the tired old routines being churned out every week. Classic contests that I remember include:
Danny Lynch v Haystacks
Adrian Street v Johnny Kincaid ( why is he never mentioned?)
Kendo Nagasaki v Jack Cassidy
Rollerball Rocco v Dave Findlay
These just scratch the surface. All were titanic battles and would not, I believe, have been shown on ITV (Remember, they refused to show the debut UK bout of American Dream Machine after filming it because it went 'beyond the bounds of what was acceptable')
Live shows without the constraints of TV was the place to watch wrestling, not Saturday afternoon with Kent Walton.
