Again, I only knew Big Pat Roach as a fan, and usually saw him at The Kings Hall, Belle Vue, Manchester.

A great wrestler and a sad loss.

Pat Roach achieved fame in other walks of life but never forgot his wrestling roots and played a major role in the business right to the end.

He respected the sport and the other wrestlers.

He deserves our eternal respect.

In the sad passing of dear Pat Roach, we have lost one of the most important ambassadors British Wrestling has ever had.

I am pleased that in the last year, I finally got round to putting pen to paper and wrote a long letter to Pat Roach, expressing my thanks as a long-time fan for all he did for wrestling. I got a nice signed photo back.

Having trawled through the archives, I have found an early snap of Mr Roach in the TV Times when he entered the Britain's Strongest Man tournament.
