Gary.... this is out of topic I know,

Why do you have an American flag on your posters/flyers/info? Just curious thats all. Not because it's "american _style_" I hope.

I would like to say ashamed to say you yes. But after the number of poor drawing shows in the UK, it was time to hit the streets with clipboard in hand and do some market research.

Unfortunatly you put british wrestling and people are turned off. This is the way things have come.

If I said British Wrestling to you what would you think of?
98% mentioned the wrestling from the world of sport days.

If I said American Wrestling to you what would you think of?
80% mentioned the WWE.

After showing two posters to 200 people I surveyed, the one with the american flag and billed as american _style_ wrestling was more favourable. The main reason being because its what they or thier kids watch on TV.

I am running a business at the end of the day and am doing my research. Unfortunatly people are more likely to see american _style_ wrestling, with the american flag than British Wrestling with the Union Flag.
At the end of the day, we use British Wrestlers (and Canadian). My aim is to draw people to shows, if what they see on a poster sits them on seats, then the research was complete and correct. The only way we will see is come the next show. Lets see what the draw is. I have always used British and the Union Flag on posters.

Im glad you answered, most promoters are too up themselves to answer the awkward ones, thanks for that Gary.

How about not even using a flag?

How would/did they react to calling it simply "Professional Wrestling", without a country being attached to it?

Back on topic, I feel bad now 'cos I never said a good thing aboot Joe when he was in WWE. Back then I had the logic that if he was any good then WWE would be using him better. They had him doing lame backstage "filler" so ........

Thanks for the comment. I am not ashamed or too up myself to answer questions, hell if more people were up front in this business, maybe the word British Wrestling would be respected again.

What an image does behind the word wrestling makes it more eye catching from the 10 foot mark. (The idea is for someone to walk past your poster and stop,) a flag is the best way to do this, as its not "Busy" and does not obstruct the word wrestling. ..lol.. I am giving away secrets now.

Seriously the posters aim is to catch the eye and make someone read it. We only do our posters at A3 size, they would totally different if they were A2. But A3 is pretty much shop size poster and thats the traditional place to put them.

This was a question I put on the first run of research. I think it was about 56% (lost the data analysis after a massive comp crash) of people thought it was amature wrestling, as in the olympics.

Just the word WRESTLING was what people associated with I quote" Big Men in tights throwing each other around"
