I use him as an example being as he was the most over uk guy at the time,and while wwf DID have fat guys,they also had many people who actually looked athletic and muscular too.

We had five such people: Daddy, Haystacks, King Kong Kirk, Scrubber Daly and Bully Boy Muir. America had Andre the Giant, King Kong Bundy, Kamala, One Man Gang, Bam Bam Bigelow, Adrian Adonis and further afield Dusty Rhodes. Later in time, there were Big Bossman, Earthquake and Tugboat/Typhoon. So don't repeat that old myth.

Yes but they werent clogging the main event for 15 plus years. And most of them were treated serious contenders unline most of the guys who came into World of Sport who would be given a 3 week push and then beaten by Daddy.

It's funny that. What you are also saying with the statement is how British wrestling took itself a lot more seriously than the Americans. Which is strange because it's actually strange because it's *American* wrestling that a fan can take much more seriously than the British stuff (at least there's a lot more examples within America of "stuff to be taken seriously" whereas there weren't in Britain) if you talk about the "high end" matches (as much as the British _style_ allowed for such).

If you regarded Daddy as typical of the UK scene then you just weren't paying attention.

If you find it boring to watch a classic technical bout involving the aformentioned Messrs Saint, Collins, Jones and many others, and you would rather watch WWF Superstars for their Glizty Characters, then I rest my case.

I use big daddy as an example BECAUSE HE WAS THE MOST OVER WRESTLER AT THE TIME..not many others stuck in the memory,cos like I said,I was 5 or 6 at the time.I dont remember when you couldnt get eggs or bananas in the war either (being as I wasnt born) doesnt mean that was a good thing either.
