Going back to my post of several weeks ago-----once the world and his wife know who is under the bonnet , the mystery and power of the mask is gone. I refer the honourable gentleman to Stamfords Kayfabe post.
Lets disscuss the masked wrestler not who he is.
Keep the Faith, Dusty.

Good point Dusty but i think that once the wrestler has retired from wrestling then it does not seem as important to keep his identity.Dont get me wrong i still think that active masked men should keep that mystery about them but it is so hard today with internet and other means of comunication to keep it quiet. Many times during my early career i have worn a mask and it does give you that special feeling when the punters are screaming for the mask to come off.It could be Joe Bloggs off the streets but they would still be wondering who it was. 8)

I can see both points of view from Keith & Dusty. Part of the enjoyment of wrestling for me is trying to figure out if the mystery man had wrestled before without the mask , looking out for a trademark hold or _style_ that belongs to a paticular wrestler & then putting a name forward. I don't see upon revealing their names the interest goes or they loose respect. Case in point for me with The Outlaw (late 60's-early 70's) upon learning he had wrestled prior to the mask & was the Canadian Gordon Nelson i became interested in finding out more about him & was impressed that he had won the famous Royal Albert Hall trophy on one occasion. I seem to recall that Kendo had trouble with a punter in my home town of Wolverhampton in the mid 70's who had discovered his real name & address & was placing notice's under the advert for the coming wrestling show in the local newspaper stating Kendo's true details, & also handing out flyers with above details on outside the civic hall on the wrestling night. I would have loved to have seen Kendo confront him in his full wrestling outfit with sword drawn. Going back to my original post ,& without getting to morbid, when did Gordon & Kevin pass away & what was Kevin's bout that night. Finally did The Exorcist ,The Black Baron & Battle Star ever get unmasked in the ring & Kamakazi (again from the early 80's Joint Promotions shows) just who was that masked man?

I remember Pat Roach having a feud with the Exorcist at Digbeth Civic Hall in Birmingham. He had a hidden steel toe cap that he used.
I remember Kamikazi and seem to recall he was a martial arts guy and quite good at the time but as to who he was.....
Other names managed by Charlie Mcgee - UFO, Outlaw.
And dont forget the legendary Kung Fu - Eddie Hamill

Some more recent ones: Tagori was mostly James Mason Doink the Clown (for TWA) I think I heard was Rock N Roll Express Barratt The Mummy was Frank Casey
I remember when Drew was the Spoler, he actually sat in the audience ringside with his mask on for a few weeks leading to his fight against Big Daddy on ITV. I expect Mr Mantell recalls this...
