Big Daddy 6 Years, 2 Months ago

Does anybody know the year that Daddy finally retired? I know it was the early 1990's sometime.
Also (and I realise I'm off-topic here) does anyone know what the great Clive Myers is up to these days?

Funnily enough I was in the corner of John Quinn (carrying a Japanese flag for the intro's) for the world _title_ match at Wembley Town Hall and the contest was stopped by Max Ward because of Bridges bleeding from a cut head. The return contest was plugged all thru the summer of 1980 with the contest due to take place at Wembley Arena on the Saturday of August Bank Holiday. Quinn jumped ship about a month before that and subsequently not only scuppered the Wembley show but decimated the Joint Promotions summer season bills as their headline attraction was no longer theirs.

Yes, I remember that flag (given I was 6 at the time) and I do recall Bridges was juicing a bit. I also recall one occasion afterwards on TV when Quinn was about to wrestle and Bridges got on the mike and gave an extended whinge about how unfair it was the way Quinn had won the _title_ etc.
Could you remind me what exactly was Yasu Fuji's role in the ending tho? And why did Big Daddy come down to ringside?

Yasu Fuji was in Quinns corner and Dean Brisco (Bridges son) was in Bridges corner. Quinn got the first public warning at the end of round one, Bridges got the first fall in round 2 with a back drop and cross press. In round 4 Quinn got the equalizer after a body slam and pin. Quinn received his second and final public warning at the start of round 5. During round 5 Quinn pushed Bridges outside the ring and when he got into the ring Bridges head was bleeding and Max Ward stopped it in Quinns favour. As the contest ended Fuji entered the ring to congratulate Quinn and then 'We shall not be moved ' started on the tannoy and Big Daddy entered the ring. Kent Walton then started the tag match plugging and also mentioning the fact that Bridges had a 90 day return match clause.
