The wrestling product that we are presented with today is totally different to what was produced in the World Of Sport era. Sports entertainment didn't come into it. In addition the _style_ of wrestling was totally different.
Well, it had two or three matches, which were simply two guys having a match with few 'storylines', no run-ins, ten second soundbite interviews and a generally mat-_base_d or standing deliberate _style_.
So actually it was quite a lot like All Japn in 1993. Though admittedly Steve Williams never came in and dropped Big Daddy on his head.

Which is how things should be. Very classy. And incorporating the bouts into a 5 hour sports magazine programme was even better (I think Grandstand should have had wrestling too!)
But can I point out that there were in fact NO interviews until after World Of Sport had finished. The 10-second soundbites only came in during the final two years of ITV wrestling, as part of the revamp and introduction of the rota system in Jan '87.
