Whats the most violent hall you have ever worked in... 5 Years, 10 Months ago
I know crowds can get pretty rowdy and the best heel's can easilly incite riots with their tactics but what is the most violent crowd you have ever worked in front of and why. Or what is the most violent crowd you have ever been a part of?

There are a few halls across the UK that could fall into the most violent for varying reasons, but I think the hall that had a consistently violent crowd would be the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow.

The Kelvin Hall used to hold 1,500 people and was full every two weeks when it was at its heyday.

The one memory that will always stick in my mind was the last ever show at the Kelvin Hall (not including the tribute show that was there a couple of years ago). The show was billed as a Scotland vs the Rest of the World with the Scottish team made up of Chic Cullen, Sandy Scott and Spinner Mckenzie. The rest of the world team was made up of Rollerball Rocco, Rocky Moran and Jim Breaks.

Three singles and a three aside tag were the order for the night. The Kelvin Hall was heating up all the way upto the Rocco vs Cullen match. This match ended with Cullen being hit with the English flag (the ref did not see it) and pinned. As soon as the ref counted three the ring was inundated with extremely irate fans. Now try to imagine 700 people surrounding a 16x16 square. The remaining competitors had to make their way to the ring to start the three aside tag. Rocky Moran made it into the ring and as he turned to look at the mob, someone spat at him. Unfortunately for Rocky Moran, he had his mouth open and the spit went….well you can guess.

Jim breaks looked out of the curtain saw the mob and refused to come out (pretty sensible as the mob wanted blood and it was a long way to get to the ring.

It is hard to get over the hatred the mob had for the non Scottish team, but all I can say is that when any member of the Scottish team did not give 100% they were subjected to the mobs rage.

At the end of the match, Rocco and Moran were escorted from the ring by the stewards. The mob then tried to get in the ring to dance in celebration. Wrestling rings are not meant to hold 200 or more people and it collapsed.

Oh what a night!!!!

**Mental Note: Don't promote in Kelvin Hall in Glasgow. Infact Don't bill a show as Scotland V the rest of the world.

Must have been quiet frightning for all, I have seen things like this turn into riots before (Never in Wrestling) very quick. Its amazing what a few pints of heavy and a few idiots can do to fire every one up.

Great story though

These type of scenes where not just in Scotland. You English had a few hot spots too. Perhaps Julian could recount some tales from Norwich or Kings Lynn.

Or someone might know the story from Croydon where the guy died at ringside during a skirmish.

The Lewisham Theatre in Catford, South London had a bit of a vicious reputation, particularly during the Kendo vs Rocco feud, when rival crowd factions would attack each other. They ended up with some pretty draconian security measures in the end.

Ohh the days when people believed in wrestling, maybe thats why halls were so full back then, and well now they struggle to fill half....

The violence we don't need in Britsh wrestling, but the belief and passion we do....
