I'd love it if they would show British wrestling on TV, cos I'm in the South and obviously can't pick an Ireland channel up.

going back to an earlier topic:
Was local Irish pro wrestling shown on Irish TV back in the old days? If so could anyone tell us more about it? (what promoter, when it was on, what wrestlers there were.)
If there's anyone on here who's Irish but too young to remember, perhaps they could ask their parents or other older people for info/memories?

No, there were no Irish wrestling promotions on Tv here, back in the day. The old British wrestling could be seen here on TV back from the 60's to '88. There the only Irish theme on the shows was that of Irish wrestlers from North and South of the border and the shows that were taped in Belfast.
I might be wrong here but, The last known Irish promoted shows that I know of in 'The Republic Of Ireland' are the James Davey shows that were in Dublin back in 1977. Then of course the IwW shows in June.

As I mentioned in an earlier thread tho, in the early '80s after Mighty John Quinn beat Wayne Bridges for a version of the World Heavyweight _title_ (the same one Bridges would later regain and lose on TV in '87 to Kendo Nagasaki), he defended the _title_ against Giant Haystacks in Claremorris, County Mayo.
Furthermore, the two had a televised contract-signing on Derek Davis's "Davis At Large" show.
