Well well well

I have just got to reply to this and totally agree 100% with Dusty, just where is wrestling heading?

When i was a kid i really enjoyed the wrestling shows i went to, once a week we would see a live wrestling show, now i see maybe 30 a year, maybe less.

WWE i have totally turned off from, what is it with the WWE? The fans expect this to be wrestling world wide, i went to the WWE RAW show in Nottingham, and when Al Snow and Maven actually did mat wrestling the fans chanted boring, Al and Maven looked stunned, the fans now day are brought up on WWE and promotions in this country have to copy the WWE and produce a load of rubbish.

Alright some actually dont do to bad in putting on shows, but what about the fun? What about the great wrestling?

I recently wrote a column at wrestlinuk.com you can read it by visiting http://www.wrestlinguk.com/commaaron.htm

I actually talk about the fun and the atmosphere missing from wrestling shows.

Why do promotion support the American _style_ of wrestling and copy off what i seen on TV? Why do wrestlers copy of the WWE? You do get wrestlers and promotors that can still put on damn fine show using wrestling and putting on a different feel to the show.

You know i was looking over the RBW shows, and realise there i something else missing , and thats the clappy theme music for the wrestlers that are the blue eyed boys (Faces) We need to have this music back, and we will have that back starting July 6th.

Its just to have something different to the American _style_, i personally dont want the _style_ of the Americans, and i know when i was at Pottersbar with Dusty, Adam & Gerry at the Premier Promotion show earlier thsi year, the traditional wrestling and _style_ of the British had the fans standing, clapping and really enjoying themselves, and the wrestlers had a great time too.

There are still promotions that promote the traditional wrestling and its these promotions i would pay good money to see, and give others a miss.

We dont need chairs shots, table shots, blood shots and any other offensive shots, what we need is more wrestling and put the W back in WRESTLING

I am suprised( and delighted) at the response my post has recieved, I did expect to get 'flamed' .
Jack , the reason I just dont watch videos of the past is that I like my wrestling live. I like to spot a young wrestler who is a good 'un and watch his career progress. Thats the beauty of a live show---you can spot the moment when a worker becomes a 'star'-----for example ( and I'm sorry to linger in the past again) I was there the night 'the NATURE BOY ADRIAN STREET ' became The EXOTIC ONE----bleached blond hair, a peacock blue full length gown --the silence was deafening --we were witnessing something we would never forget. I would never have got that from a video.

Recently I have been singing the praises of The Golden Boy , CK1, Cameron Knite---he's off in the states at the moment , training at the powerplant---and I have this feeling that he'll return 'yanky-i-fied'
and that'll be another one lost.

Here's a thought for you all: most of the fans nowadays have been raised on WWE(F) and when the British promotors copy it , it always comes across as a cheap and tatty rip off---for example---if the WWE did a kidnap story line , the car that would sweep in would be a stretch limo , big black and shiny---contrast that with a well known British fed that did a kidnap story and used a bright yellow Fiat Uno ----erm

So what about this ? By going back to what I call The Brit _style_--you would be presenting something that is so old , it'll be new ( if you get my drift).
I coined a phrase that I know RBW use ----we must go back to find our future.

It is so frustrating ---I know what I want to say but can't find the words-----(and I'll say once again if any of you guys think education is expensive , try the cost of ignorance)

Thanks anyway.
Keep the Faith, Dusty.

As my memories of World of Sport are a bit hazy due to my youth (ha!), and as someone that got into wrestling in my teens through WWF, my preference lies in a middle ground.
I like a bit of highflying, I like a bit of hardcore (when it's creative and doesn't just mean a ring match with the inclusion of a fire extinguisher and a cookie sheet) but I like to see actuall wrestling, be it mat, reverse & counter, or something a bit more flashy taking up the majority of the match. All these big bumps, somersaults and chair shots do lend something to a match, but not when they're used constantly. They should be something out of the ordinary. The rate that "foreign _object_s" get used in WWE means that they become part of the norm. Once upon a time people getting slammed through tables was something that happened occassionally at PPV's, and it was exciting, but now it's on Raw virtually every week. There's only so many time you can go "ooh" at a corkscrew moonsault.

I don't think a bit of glamour, a bit of superstar-ing the wrestlers would hurt British wrestling. Wrestling from whatever country has evolved, and I think a bit of sparkle to appeal to todays Popstar market would be quite good. After all, Football is still seen as a legitimate sport, yet the p_layer_s are all swanking around like movie idols and starting brawls to get a bit of front page publicity so they can be heels. But at the end of the day wrestling is still wrestling and should be _base_d around wrestlers wrestling each other, and wrestling because that's what wrestlers do. Not all matches need to exist for revenge because one wrestler jumped the other in the car park, kidnapped his dog, or drugged his fiance and married her while she was unconcious.
A sparkly presented event complimented by some good solid wrestling, with the occasional high spot to stand out as something a bit different, and no storylines to insult our intelligence (this ain't Emmerdale, folks) is what I'd like to see.

No Disrespect towards your Love for British Wrestling, but have you ever thought that Cameron Knite - A Personal Friend of Mine - Might LIKE The American _style_ of Wrestling?

Believe me, he's not called the "Golden Boy" because he likes Gold, it's his tribute to two of Britians Best Wrestling Exports - Robbie Brookside & Steve Regal. So I don't think he is "Lost", but more "Eclectic" in his wrestling _style_.

So Keep the faith, but respect others love for things American, even if you dont like that stuff yourself.

For sure , Unknown Guy ( by the way , why be Unknown ? we are all family here) Cam has the right to go and do as he pleases. I've had a few conversations with him , in fact it was me that was instrumental in bringing him down for an FWA Academy show, and there is just something about his attitude and _style_ of working that leads me to believe he would adapt well to the rounds _style_. I would a least like to see him give it a go. Its like when his bookers wanted to turn him villain--it was to soon , he's not even an established blue eye yet so why turn him?

Yes I do love my British Wrestling but that doesn't stop me recognising good new talent (and offering my opinion) and I dont mind the odd 1 fall match ----but the bookers need to be original instead of lazily copying and re-hashing WWE(F) _style_ story lines.

Forgive me if I have mis-understood your post , but I would hardly call the 'Wildcat' an export ----a great British wrestler that has worked abroad, but not an export.

Keeping that Faith, Dusty.
