I'm just going to make the point that at MPW we are taught British wrestling as opposed to what u see on the WWE, then I'm staying out of the argument. If someone from MPW is going to hit u in the ring i.e. chop then they are going to hit u, simple as that. Theres none of the punches that don't connect etc, we will make contact and it will hurt.

Whilst I know nothing about MPW WRESTLING I'm reassured that Cherry Blossom is being taught British Wrestling.
However, apart from chops and punches ( punching is a legitimately taught move in Britain !? :o )what else is taught that distinguishes MPW _style_ from our transatlantic cousins?

well we have a very technicaly _base_d _style_, with lots of chain wrestling & matwork, i'd say every single MPW superstar (I love that word!) is capable of putting on a solid, technical match.
Althouh we have a few innovative wrestlers, like me, who invent there own moves, every move has some level of legimacy, unlike some of the crazy, contrived moves you'll see in a lot of US indy matches.
We are also taught a lot of little known stuff, like things from the old british _style_, as well as lucha & puro _base_d work.
I cant realy think of any other parts of our _style_ right now, but i know theres a lot more, maybe some of the other MPWites can help me out.

We aren't taught punches because as the WWE guys have shown, they look horrible, the only one of our guys that uses them is Jack Union due to his boxing gimmick and even then he doesn't use them that often.

What about the good old British forearm smash/uppercut?
When Steve (William?) Regal went to the States, their wrestlers could not handle it at all !
Don't see it used much in our rings now though, except by the 'veterans'

Down at the "main" Hammerlcok gym we're also taught not to use punches. Not only coz they usually end up looking terrible...but because if you really punched someone in the face you'd leave some kind of mark at least if not completely break their jaw.

It seems that most British wrestlers that make it in the US use "European" uppercuts...but I can barely rememebr anyone over here actually using them (not that I've seen any non-Hammerlock shows). I keep meaning to start using them but never seem to remember.

I have started to use a few forearms again...but am a little out of practice...having not used em since last Easter (the same day i sprained my ankle infact :? ).
