Whilst I've no doubt there could be up to 5 different promotions running shows within the Tokyo area each week, don't beleive the stuff PowerSlam would tell you. Or you'll start thinking King of the Death Match 1995 and SummerSlam 2002 are better shows than Big Egg Wrestling Universe, that Shawn Michaels is one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, and that Alex Shane can actually produce competent wrestling matches

Actually most of the writers at Power Slam voted Big Egg Wrestling Universe as one of teh best shows ever,it was only one who said kodm95,and that was more for its fame value.....

I'm looking through said "booklet" right now and some of the choices (more so considering what else was able for inclusion) is shocking. They might say "PowerSlam writers listing their *favourite* (unemphasised)shows" on the inside page, but the front reads "THE GREATEST SHOWS OF ALL TIME" so included some of the pure shit they did is well, typical...

AAA/IWC When Worlds Collide
This is hardly "pure shit" and easilly the best show of those listed here that shouldn't be included. But one great match does not a great show make. The most overrated show ever.

IWA King of the Death Match 1995
"I thought I would indulge in some pure garbage" writes Fin at the end of the first paragraph. "Pure garbage" is about as apt a de_script_ion for this show as one could come up with...

ECW Doctor Is In (1996)
A joke?

WWF One Night Only
Urgh. Just because it was better than any other "British only" show the WWF has ever and probably will ever done doesn't make this great.

ECW Heat Wave 1998
Sure...

Pillman Memorial Show 2000
No, this is the joke. Simply put, either Patty Therre has seen hardly any wrestling or she is beyond all scopes that the word "retarded" covers if she thinks Benoit/Regal is the "best match (she's) ever seen"...

WWF SummerSlam 2002
What? "It's not every Sunday night you see a performer cement his status as one of the greatest ever" Anthony Evans writes about Shawn Michaels' return match with Hunter Hearst Helmsley. Poor bastard, I guess...

--------------------

What happened to say All Japan's July 29th, 1993 (or *countless* others) show? What about Big Egg Wrestling Universe? What about gazillions of other shows I'm forgettng that *have* to be better than some of the shit they've included?

i have read alot of the statements in here and scanned threw others i have read alot of different opinions that i thought made loads of sense.

Does America influence british wrestling??? Of course it does, for one look at the average british crowd, yeah shows have had fairly large crowds but then look at the wwe crowds 20,000plus you look at britains number 1 company FWA if they do a huge show to get there bigger crowds they have to fly in american talent, i am not taking away from the british fans who want to see "british" wrestling, but alot of fans want to see american wrestling. The smart fans arent bothered as long as the show is a good solid make sense kinda show then there happy, then you have the young crowds who want story lines, crowd interaction, moonsaults etc etc, there is probably about a billion different types of "fan" out there and to try and please everybody....its just totally unrealistic. the way up is to find your type of crowd and aim at them now if thats the 300 8 year olds go for it...now thats smart wrestling

back to the question in hand...does america influence british wrestling IT HAS TO

Ok jaqk i've read alot of your post and just wanted to replyand just say, ok you thought the dean malenko scotty 2 hotty match was rubbish...

Where did I say that? I didn't agree with Ant when he said it was a "great technical match" but I never said the match was "rubbish", hell, did I even say it was "bad"? We never took the debate further because Ant didn't want to...

ant never, ant enjoyed it...

I know Ant enjoyed it... I've nothing against him even enjoying even Alex Shane vs. Gary Steele or AJ _style_s vs. Red...

your a fan that enjoys well thought out, smart worked, well built.etc etc

Well, sort of. I do enjoy it, but the match doesn't have to be such for me to simply *enjoy* it. I enjoy old British stuff, remember? Or didn't you read that/them posts . For me to state that the work is/is not "good" or better then it obviously needs to fit a set criteria which all of the aforementioned come into...

ants a wrestling fan who likes t be entertained

Never did I say I didn't like to be entertained. If I wasn't entertained by wrestling I wouldn't watch it, would I? It's what actually entertains us and our ideas of wrestling and the way we look at wrestling where the difference come in.

the first is your opinion the second is ants opinion you see the good thing about opinion is that most if not everybody has one

Whether that's a "good" thing or not can be debated. I mean what point would there be me having an opinion on NASA's next space mission when I know next to nothing about it and certainly couldn't look into and analyse all the options .

now ants has had his which was he thought the match was good, you had yours which was the match was bad...leave at that for just once

Um, I did. But you'll never get anywhere, discussion will never get anyway if people just say "that's my opinion" since that apparently gives you the right to not have to back up what you say with the reasons why you're making the statements you are :|.

and dont get this topic locked because its a good one.

I haven't done anything that would get this topic locked. Going "off topic" isn't a problem if it's a natural flow in the conversation and doesn't just come out of nowhere. Besides, we're hardly flaming each other or what-not, there shouldn't be a big deal (or even a small deal) made.
