I agree on the side of US stars being a main draw for shows over here, as I found on my own experience. The first show I went to had a former WWF star on the bill, and I mainly went along to see that guy. Although I paid attention to the rest of the card, I can't remember any other details. The next time, another WWF name, another forgotten card. I went back the next time, finding there was no WWF name to be seen, and started paying a lot more attention to the British workers. Once I started realising "hey, these guys aren't too bad!" I was watching the full show with great interest. Nowadays I go to a show to see whatever wrestlers are on offer - be it UK, American, or Ugandan (bring over Kamala!).
I feel that they can help to draw in a fan _base_ from the fans who have only ever heard of wrestling being on television. Maybe it's through no fault of their own that they don't know about British shows, but when they notice a name they remember, it's more likely they'll want to go than if Joe Bloggs is booked. Once they are in the door to see their US hero, it's the job of the British wrestlers to convert this kind of fan in to someone who will return time after time.
Although British wrestlers deserve to stand in their own right, it seems at the moment that their job is limited to keeping the "newbies" in the seats time and time again.

I think overseas stars are needed. Especially ex-WWF guys that most wrestling fans are going to know. These will help draw the crowds which will then improve British wrestling as a whole.

I know you should take everything with a pinch of salt, but I was told that Hammerlock didnt draw more people with the Americans on the shows, in one case less.
But the Americans were good to bring over for the experience factor as well as helping with training and stuff.
All depends on what Americans are brought over in my opinion the ones that can draw are not usually the ones that are good workers. I dont believe that the Americans FWA bring over really improve the amount of people buying tickets for example.

...the reason we brought these guys here is because "joe public" complained that the uk stars were being wasted against "washed up" us talent...so we bring in new and excellent young overseas talent and what does "joe public"do? bitch as usual...

It wasn`t bitching on my part it`s just seeing so many overseas stars here it can over shadow the british stars unless handled in the right way by each promoter. eg making sure that the british stars are noticed too on publicity posters for shows.
