Results and brief report from FCW ENDURANCE -

Posted on 28 September 2004 by Wrestling News

Baggeridge Social Welfare Centre,Lower Gornal Sunday September 26th 2004 Laken Xander defeated The Judge – Before the match Rob came out and stated that tonight he would not be defending the FCW Title against Super Dragon. He was however, going to put Laken Xander in a match where if he won he would get a title shot at Haden Hill. After the match Laken grabbed the mic and said that seeing as the title was not on the line tonight, how about if you lose tonight i get to pick a stipulation for Haden Hill. Devil's Advocate defeated Morales / Spud – During the match,Spud reinjured his arm (which was broken last December) after being sent to the outside and being whacked with a steel chair. Spud in obvious agony, was unable to make the tag for a majority of the match. When Spud did have the opportunity to tag,he declined in favour of finishing off Mr Basa with a "Phoenix Splash",unfortunately Spud missed and then tapped out to a fujiwara armbar from Damien Grant. Morales was livid, and could be heard telling Spud that he was selfish. Spud apologised and all seemed well until Morales delivered a devastating armbar ddt onto the already injured arm. Then in an act of pure cowardice,Morales drilled Spud into the mat with his patented Tiger Driver. Morales left to a chorus of boo's,whilst Spud was left unconsious for nearly 2 minutes. A-Star defeated Danny Devine – "The Man Who Always Comes First" took on a newcomer to FCW – Danny Devine. An impressive outing here for the young Devine, definately one to look out for in the future. "Classic" Colt Cabana defeated "Tomcat" Kevin O'Neil – Before the match – O'Neil announced that at Haden Hill he would be facing "Wildcat" Robbie Brookside. The crowd errupted when they heard Barry Manilow through the speakers – Colt Cabana was in FCW! The classic one was on top form as he outsmarted O'Neil for the early going. Just when Cabana was about to nail O'Neil with the "Colt 45",Innocence from ringside grabbed his leg distracting him. O'Neil then blindsided him and set up for the TKO. Colt slipped off the back and rolled him up for the 123. "Golden Boy" Cameron Knite defeated Marc Hogan w/ Desirable Danny D – Once again Danny D made his feelings known to the Baggeridge faithful, stating that he was better, sexier and more successful than everyone in the building. After a hard fought bout,Hogan looked like finished Knite off until Psycho made his way to ring side,Hogan looking confused went for Psycho, that was all that Cameron needed to cradle up Hoagn for the pinfall. The Party Boys vs The British Connection ended in no contest – Devil's Advocate ran in and attacked both teams. Jack Storm in anger took the mic and started to challenge Devils Advocate to a match at Haden Hill, before he could finish though The Judge interupted, and said that no tag matches were going to made for Haden Hill that didn't include Swift Justice. Suddenly out of nowhere BB Steele did a huge tope over the tope rope onto The Judge. Unfortunately for Steele he was caught, and then got powerbombed through the marchandise table. The crowd went wild with the chant of "Holy Sh*t,Holy Sh*t". Jack once again took the mic and challenged Devils Advocate,Swift Justice and British Connection to a Tag Team Elimination Tables Match at Haden Hill!! Falcon defeated The Bouncer – Everyones favourite ginger wrestler (couldn't resist),then took on the ever popular Bouncer. Yet another great match that had the fans on the edge of their seats. Falcon kept up his impressive win/loss record in FCW with this victory. Super Dragon defeated FCW Champion "SOTN" Rob Hunter in a non title match – Seeing Super Dragon in FCW was a sight to behold,no one could quite beleive it especially Rob from the look on his face. No write up is going to do this match justice, you need to see this match on DVD. Super Dragon was just brutal with double head stamps, punishing elbows and the stiffest kicks. The FCW Champion to his credit held his own in there and showed Super Dragon that this was going to be no walk in the park. Super Dragon finally won when he delivered the devastating "Pyscho Driver",off the 2ND ROPE!!! After the match,Laken came out and announced his stipulation. At Haden Hill Rob would have to defend his title in a LADDER MATCH!!! So,all in all it wasn't a very good night for Mr Hunter, altogether now – aahhhhhhh.

Full report of Dropkixx Battle Show

Posted on 27 September 2004 by Wrestling News

Saturday the 25th saw continual rain and awful damp conditions teeming down in Battle,East Sussex, but it wasnt enough to dampen the ardour of the fans who turned out to see the great maestros of the mat world come together to give a quality show rarely seen these days. Sadly, because of the dreadful weather the ring was moved indoors to the barn, where seats where hurriedly placed, much to the delight and relief of the audience. Thanks for this saving grace falls to young star and first reserve: Martin Berry along with Richard Fretwell the former Dale-Martin second both of whom worked tirelessly to keep everything working. The show which was put on in memory of Bomber Pat Roach to raise funds for the Macmillan cancer nurses, was opened by the former four times WWF Heavyweight Champion of the World: Wayne Bridges, and his good lady the reigning Miss Great Britain: Sarah Bridges who had broken off from training for the forthcoming Arnold Swarzzenegger classic in Chicago, especially to pay tribute to the great gladiator who was sadly taken from us last month. First bout kicked off finally at 3 0 clock,to excited squeals from the girls when handsome young Heartbreaker Bradley Beck faced the young aerial specialist: Paul Robinson. The first three rounds were a feast of technical skills to make any old time wrestler proud and drew much applause as the bell ended each session. In round four,Beck took a fall, swiftly countered by Robinson in round five following an awesome moonsault somersault off the top rope. The bout ended in a well-deserved draw, which drew acclaim from everyone in attendance. In a change to the advertised programme, second bout of the day saw the first of the TV legends when the immortal grappler, former boxing champion, country and western singing star Brian Goldbelt Maxine enter the ring,to take on the legendary World of Sport TV star: John Ritchie. Ritchie son of the tough-guy wrestler and shoot champion: John Hall, represented his Country as an amateur and was ranked as Olympic status, not to mention his awesome shoot skills, did not have a chance to show his talents following an onslaught and barrage of fouls from the evergreen Godfather of grappling. Maxine has been known to fill the Royal Albert Hall in his heyday, did not disappoint his legions of fans who had braved the rain to see him face to face. Referee the great Bobby Stafford had his work cut out to control the pair and finally disqualified Maxine following two public warnings in round four. To hear the roar of the fans, you would think that there were a thousand people present instead of those that were there. The main event of the afternoon, was a belter with that legend supreme: Steve Grey entering the ring to tumultuous applause. His opponent was the seventeen colossus: the British Amateur Champion: Charlie Rage who despite his size and arrogance was obviously in awe of his opponent and the reputation that preceded him. Grey who is featured almost daily on the wrestling channel and considered to be the greatest exponent of technical skills in the UK,tried desperately to wrestle with his usual aplomb, but Rage sensed that he could not possibly match the lighter man and resorted to tactics that earned him a public warning twice in three rounds. Finally in round five, following a monstrous beating,Steve Grey duped his opponent to land a fantastic drop kick that had the crowd gasping, and leaving Rage knocked senseless. The referee for this thriller was the Hastings TV star and owner of the Ocean bodybuilding gym: Bob Kirkwood, who showed that he had lost none of his skills by taking three, bumps himself during the contest. Guest referee and one of the Reunion founder members: Mal Mason was on hand to take a bow, having taken time out from a tour with Brian Dixons All-star wrestling,as was another ring general from the sixties: Tony Cassio the Italian stallion. now a successful artist in Hastings. Bout four featured two more veteran gladiators of TV fame in Tony titch White and Eastbournes own Barry Cooper. The contest brought light-hearted moments to an otherwise serious afternoon, with both grapplers producing a mixture of technical wizardry and sparkling humour full of wisecracks to the drenched audience. Highlight of the bout was when both men were trapped in double leglocks and Bob Kirkwood who was trying to free them got caught himself found a sea of legs and arms everywhere making the appreciative crowd shriek with laughter. Final contest of the day was the original God of Hellfire himself: the former British Heavyweight Champion and Doctor Death: Mel Stuart who is enough to drive fear in any one facing him let alone the young star of today: Pete Nixon. Totally undaunted by Stuarts tactics and time wasting moves,Nixon slowly wore the older man down to win the second fall in round five bringing the afternoon to a fitting close. The total affair organised by former singer and ring second: Ted Fretwell, raised in excess of 1000 for the charity, which was received by a nurse from the foundation. Everyone agreed that it was a superb exhibition of professional wrestling long missing from our sight. The young wrestlers on the show all said that it was an honour to be matched alongside such greats and that the welcome, advice, plus good natured atmosphere that they encountered in the dressing room was priceless, making it the best show that they had ever worked on. That says it all folks! Watch out for more Dropkixx World of Sport Spectaculars in October/November.
